Report from Tuesday, April 8, 2026<\/em><\/p>\n

The season keeps going for Camelback Mountain<\/a>, located in the Pocono Mountains in Pennsylvania.<\/strong> It is the ski resort\u2019s 126th day of operations for the season since opening day on December 3, 2025.<\/p>\n

Colder temperatures moved in on Monday night and dropped into the low 20s, allowing the snowmaking teams to add a refresher on Nile Mile, Cliffhanger, Bactrian, Pharaoh, and Sunbowl.<\/strong> The ski resort fired up 100 snowguns overnight, and some were still firing on Mile Nile and Cliffhanger when I arrived at the mountain around 10:00 a.m.<\/p>\n

The conditions in the morning were soft with full coverage on all the slopes.<\/strong> The temperature was 31\u00b0F and got into the upper 40s by the time I left. It was a classic spring bluebird day with no wind at all. The snowmaking teams did an excellent job of giving the slopes a nice top layer over a deep 15-foot base in some places on the mountain.<\/p>\n

The skiing was fast, with no icy spots or sticky spots in the morning. <\/strong>Nile Mile is an intermediate trail that is one of my favorite runs at the mountain. It\u2019s long enough yet steep enough to get some speed and really make some nice turns. It is also one of the slopes on which Camelback Mountain has been making snow whenever possible throughout the season to prepare for spring skiing. Since this is a local\u2019s favorite trail to hit, it was surprising not to see it get bumped up throughout the day.<\/p>\n

Cliffhanger is a double black diamond that Camelback Mountain has also been making a lot of snow on throughout the season.<\/strong> What really surprised me was that the mountain didn\u2019t groom it out. That\u2019s rare for a Pennsylvania ski resort to do that. Most mountains consist of nothing but groomers, besides the glades. The conditions on Cliffhanger in the morning were a little harder than the other slopes, but not icy. There were some nice-sized bumps and remnants of whalebacks scattered all the way down the run. It was a lot of fun to hit, especially since ski resorts in the state normally don\u2019t do that. It was easily the best run to hit on this day for someone who likes bumps on a high-angle slope.<\/p>\n

Bactrain is a single black diamond that is steep at the top, but mellows out in the middle.<\/strong> It was a little slick in some spots, but not icy. It was fun to ski because it\u2019s windy and narrow, and you can grab some speed and get up on your edges. It was not bumped up at all.<\/p>\n

The best place to park for spring skiing at Camelback is by the lot right across the street from Alta Vida\u2019s restaurant, located between Camelback Lodge and Mountain Village.<\/strong> Plan on booting up in the parking lot. There is a spot in the hotel by the Trails-End-Pub and Grille where there are benches to sit on. However, there is no storage area.<\/p>\n

For someone who doesn\u2019t feel like hitting the slopes on skis or a snowboard, Camelback Mountain has its snowtubing park running with 10 lanes open from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.<\/strong><\/p>\n
