The Dallas Mavericks said they committed \u201cno error\u201d in response to Los Angeles Lakers coach JJ Redick\u2019s claim that the Mavericks scanned the \u201cwrong area\u201d of guard Austin Reaves\u2019 body.<\/p>\n

Reaves suffered a Grade 2 left oblique injury Thursday in the Lakers\u2019 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Lakers, who were playing in Dallas two days later, asked the Mavericks\u2019 medical staff to medically image Reaves, Redick said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know where the chain of command lies with Dallas imaging, but uh, they scanned the wrong area,\u201d Redick said Saturday. \u201cNot on our end. We made it explicit what was supposed to be scanned, but they scanned the wrong area.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Mavericks said in an official statement that they didn\u2019t make a mistake administering an MRI on Reaves.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur medical team followed standard imaging protocols based on the information provided at the time,\u201d the Mavericks said. \u201cThere was no error in the scan performed.\u201d<\/p>\n

Reaves\u2019 injury occurred in the first half of the Lakers\u2019 loss to the Thunder last week. Reaves was visibly playing through discomfort before he exited that game for good in the third quarter. He is expected to be sidelined for four to six weeks, The Athletic<\/em>\u2019s Dan Woike reported.<\/p>\n
