Although previously modified to accommodate a Weslake engine, the frame remained straight and suitable for redevelopment.<\/p>\n<p>From there, the build evolved into an ambitious engineering project centred around creating an <strong>eight-valve Triumph engine<\/strong>, using components from the Triumph TSS alongside T140V crankcases and gearbox.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.classicbikeshows.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/35\/2026\/04\/image-1-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"M\u00e9tisse-Triumph 8-valve racer\" class=\"wp-image-4348 lazyload\" src=\"image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 1024px;--smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 1024\/768\"><\/figure>\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Engineering detail and development<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>The engine combines a range of Triumph components, including a crankshaft, con-rods, pistons, cylinder barrels and cylinder head, with modifications required to accommodate the TSS barrels on the T140 crankcases.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"banner-ia-intro\">Article continues below\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"revive\"><span style=\"font-size:0.7em;color:#AAA\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fastbikesmag.com\/advertise\/\">Advert<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"in_article_2\">\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The crankcases were machined to suit, allowing the barrels to be fitted while retaining the original stud positions. The engine features a polished and balanced crankshaft, alloy racing con-rods, Nourish \u2018Z\u2019 cams, and 32mm Amal Concentric Mk2 carburettors. Ignition is provided by an Electrex system.<\/p>\n<p>The frame itself was refinished, with new rear and lower lugs fabricated before being polished and re-nickel plated.
