he can keep Ollie Bearman long-term, but says the squad \u201chave to be happy that we\u2019ve done our job\u201d if he\u2019s poached by Ferrari.<\/p>\n<p>The 20-year-old British driver has been a member of Ferrari\u2019s Young Driver Academy since 2022, the same year he finished third in the FIA Formula 3 standings.<\/p>\n<p>He spent the next two years in Formula 2, though made his F1 debut in 2024 at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix with Ferrari as an injury replacement, with Ollie Bearman an impressive seventh.<\/p>\n<p>He also scored points in his debut for Haas later that year in Azerbaijan in 10th, before making his full-time F1 step in 2025 with the American outfit.<\/p>\n<p>Though scoring points in three of the first four rounds, Bearman had a difficult mid-part to the 2025 campaign, before an impressive rally late on, which saw him score a career-best fourth in Mexico.<\/p>\n<aside>\n<div class=\"block\">\n<div class=\"mpu-block\">\n<div class=\"mpu-title\"><span>Article team-mate Esteban Ocon in the standings in his rookie year, and currently leads him by 16 points after three rounds in 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to the media, including <em>Crash.net,<\/em> in Japan, Komatsu branded Bearman\u2019s start to the new campaign as \u201cfaultless\u201d, both on and off the track.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cExtremely impressed,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<aside>\n<div improve so quickly is what makes him amazing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe always, always has this amazing speed. There\u2019s no doubt from day one.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut I think the reason why I\u2019m so excited is that I don\u2019t see this [stopping] with him, because again Mexico last year was unbelievable, and the way he\u2019s been conducting himself in the pre-season testing, brand-new regulations, the way he has been working with the team in the simulator, etc, away from the track has been very good.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd if you look at those first two race weekends, I would say they were faultless, brilliant: his attitude, his work with the engineers, his execution. I\u2019m a strong believer in controlling what you can control.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFerrari has been investing in him for many, many years.
