You can almost hear the shouts: beware of the Jerry. But before you head up the lift in denim, it\u2019s worth asking why jeans have such a reputation on the mountain \u2014 and why they\u2019re so often linked to the dreaded \u201cJerry.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Among skiers and riders, few labels carry more weight than \u201cJerry.\u201d <\/strong>As stated by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.freeskier.com\/youve-seen-the-shenanigans-now-meet-the-man-behind-jerryoftheday\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Freeskier<\/em><\/a>, the best way to describe a Jerry is \u201can individual who exhibits a true lack of understanding for their sport, or for life in general.\u201d Jerry\u2019s are typically the ones you see on the mountain who are booming down the runs, heading to hit the next person they see. Not only are Jerry\u2019s identified through their obliviousness towards other people on the mountain, but they are also stereotyped through clothing and equipment. Whether it\u2019s melting snow or sweat, jeans soak it up, hold onto it, and dry painfully slowly. One fall, and you\u2019re wet for the rest of the day.<\/p>\n<p><strong>That leads straight into the next issue: cold transfer.<\/strong> Once wet, denim cools down quickly, pulling heat away from your body.
