Kia has announced that its smallest \u2013 and in its own words, ‘affordable’ \u2013 EV2 will cost from \u00a324,245, ahead of its arrival later this year.<\/p>\n

That includes a \u00a33,750 \u2018Reservation Saving\u2019, while the carmaker awaits confirmation that it\u2019ll be eligible for the UK Government\u2019s Electric Car Grant<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Course, we\u2019ve already driven it, concluding it \u201cto be another likely hit\u201d for the Korean manufacturer as it looks to continue its good run of form as far as electric cars go. You can read our full verdict on the EV behind these blue words<\/a>.<\/p>\n

But only now are we discovering full pricing and specification. First up is the EV2 \u2018Air\u2019, complete with long-range 61kWh battery and 133bhp electric motor driving the front wheels. Claimed range is up to 281 miles.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Then there’s the EV2 \u2018First Edition\u2019, which gets a standard-range 42.2kWh battery, 144bhp e-motor and a range of just shy of 200 miles. It starts from \u00a326,995. Wait, what?!<\/p>\n

There is logic to it (sort of). The long-range one is built in Europe, therefore making it local and more eco-friendly in the eyes of the Electric Car Grant. As such, Kia reckons the smaller battery will only get the smaller subsidy of \u00a31,500.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Everything else gets the bigger battery and likely the full \u00a33,750 saving, so GT-Line starts from \u00a328,995, and GT-Line S from \u00a332,595.<\/p>\n

Every EV2 gets dual 12.3-inch display and infotainment screens, joined at the hip by an additional 5.3-inch climate control touchscreen.<\/p>\n

Air models also get 16in alloys, heated steering wheel and seats, wireless smartphone mirroring, and a grey cloth upholstery. Step up to First Edition trim and you get 18in alloys, adaptive LED headlights, a wireless phone charger, and a Harman Kardon sound system.<\/p>\n

GT-Line versions get a slightly sportier look, with 19in alloys, bespoke bumpers, two-tone artificial leather upholstery and alloy pedals. Flagship GT-Line S versions get all that plus sunroof, tinted rear windows, ventilated front seats, power tailgate, and V2L capability.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

It\u2019s priced pretty competitively compared to rivals \u2013 a\u00a0Renault 4<\/a> can be had for slightly less, a Jeep Avenger<\/a> and\u00a0Peugeot e-2008<\/a> slightly more.<\/p>\n
