Black Label Society<\/strong>, fronted by long-time Ozzy<\/strong>Osbourne<\/strong> guitarist Zakk Wylde<\/strong>, just released their newest record Engines Of Demolition<\/em> this past Friday (27th March), and with it, comes a tribute track for the Black Sabbath <\/strong>frontman titled, “Ozzy<\/strong>‘s Song.”<\/p>\n Zakk<\/strong>Wylde<\/strong> was the guitarist for Ozzy<\/strong>Osbourne<\/strong> and his solo work for nearly forty years \u2013 taken under Ozzy<\/strong>‘s wing in 1987, Wylde<\/strong> stood by Osbourne<\/strong>‘s side until the very end, playing lead guitar alongside him at his final performance at Back To The Beginning<\/em>.<\/p>\n Speaking to Guitar World<\/em> both about the passing of Ozzy<\/strong> and how the track ended up coming together, Wylde<\/strong> said that: “I don’t think any of us were picturing Oz<\/strong> passing away two weeks after the gig [referring to Back to the Beginning].”<\/p>\n “So I just figured\u2026 hopefully we’ll make records, and then hopefully, because the festival went so well, Mom [Sharon<\/strong>Osbourne<\/strong>] puts together a Back to the Beginning once a year\u2026 we’ll do one in Brazil, do one in Japan. You know that one was in Birmingham, then do another one in the States somewhere.”<\/p>\n In a similar vein, the song had already been in progress before Osbourne<\/strong> passed, “I wrote the music before Oz<\/strong> passed away. But after Oz<\/strong> passed away, when we went back to England and we laid Ozzy<\/strong> to rest, when I got right from that, I went straight to\u00a0Pantera<\/strong>\u00a0celebrations with Phil<\/strong> [Anselmo<\/strong>], Rex<\/strong> [Brown<\/strong>], and Charlie<\/strong> [Benante<\/strong>]. So I hooked back up with the fellas, and we were back rolling.<\/p>\n “And then when I got done, when we got done with the Pantera<\/strong> celebration run, when I got home, I was just sitting in the house and [this] is when I wrote the lyrics and just sang the song. I was just thinking about Oz<\/strong>, and then I just wrote the lyrics.”<\/p>\n With the release of Engines Of Demolition<\/em>, Black Label Society<\/strong> and Zakk Wylde<\/strong> hosted a special live-streaming special in which both the music video and the first live performance of the song debuted.
