Bennett into his mic. \u201cNazis can\u2019t dance.\u201d His words sound across Trafalgar Square, and the crowd goes nuts. It\u2019s the final hour of the House Against Hate protest rave, and kinetic energy picks up and races through the throng of dancers. In the front row moves a crew of ravers from all backgrounds: a whining baddie in a \u201cYou are now entering Free Derry\u201d t-shirt; an old head in a hot pink frontless tank top, deep in a full seven-hour dance shift; and a young person wearing thick eyeliner and a trans flag draped over their shoulders, their expectant eyes pointed skyward.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>In March 28\u2018s groundbreaking event, an estimated <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/news\/uk\/home-news\/london-protest-today-far-right-b2947672.html\"><span>half a million people<\/span><\/a><span> gathered to take part in the larger <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.togetheralliance.org.uk\/\"><span>Together Alliance<\/span><\/a><span> march throughout Central London, smashing records and cementing the demonstration as the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/uk-news\/2026\/mar\/28\/london-far-right-march-biggest-ever-multicultural-protest\"><span>largest multicultural demonstration in UK history<\/span><\/a><span>. At the centre of it all was the House Against Hate free-entry rave, organised by <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/r3_soundsystem\/\"><span>R3 Soundsystem<\/span><\/a><span>. DJs and artists such as Ben UFO, Katy B, Shygirl, Hot Chip, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, and GIDE\u00d6N (the man behind R3 Soundsystem) took to the stage to take aim <\/span><span>at the far-right amid <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ipsos.com\/en-uk\/reform-uk-still-holds-8-point-lead-gap-shrinks-amid-doubts-over-their-readiness-government-ipsos\"><span>Reform party popularity<\/span><\/a><span> and increased anti-immigration, anti-trans, and xenophobic rhetoric.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThis isn\u2019t going to be a smooth process,\u201d artist Joy Crookes tells Dazed at the event. \u201cThe years ahead of us, especially while people like Trump are still in power, are going to be a very testing time. We need to lock in, and if that looks like the smallest protest in the world, like talking to a problematic family member, or it looks like standing at Trafalgar Square and saying something, then both count.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>In September 2025, Tommy Robinson led the far-right Unite the Kingdom rally, garnering unprecedented numbers as <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.met.police.uk\/foi-ai\/metropolitan-police\/disclosure-2025\/september-2025\/predicted-estimated-attendance-unite-the-kingdom-counter-demonstrations\/\"><span>150,000 people<\/span><\/a><span> took to London\u2019s streets, resulting in <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/uk-news\/2025\/sep\/13\/unite-the-kingdom-far-right-rally-london-tommy-robinson-police-assaulted\"><span>violent clashes with police<\/span><\/a><span>. Now, just six months later, a change in the tide feels palpable, as those numbers were more than tripled by those who rallied to oppose the far-right, instead choosing to stand for the justice and equality of marginalised people everywhere.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cMan, everyone should be here,\u201d says 19-year-old Rowan May Early Wray under a fire engine red messenger hat. \u201cIt\u2019s extremely important because people getting together in person \u2013 especially against hatred \u2013 is a dying art. I&#8217;m just happy to see people together and interacting in a normal human way. This is the UK. This is what the UK should be.\u201d Wray\u2019s friend, 18-year-old Oli Taylor, chimes in, adding, \u201cSomething like this makes it easier for people to speak out. Music is the language that goes across all languages.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>For a few auspicious hours, Central London\u2019s streets were reclaimed, and Trafalgar Square became a place of blissed-out liberation and celebratory defiance. It\u2019s the final hour of the House Against Hate protest rave, and kinetic energy picks up and races through the throng of dancers. In the front row moves a crew of ravers from all backgrounds: a whining baddie in a \u201cYou are now entering Free Derry\u201d t-shirt; an old head in a hot pink frontless tank top, deep in a full seven-hour dance shift; and a young person wearing thick eyeliner and a trans flag draped over their shoulders, their expectant eyes pointed skyward.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>In March 28\u2018s groundbreaking event, an estimated <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/news\/uk\/home-news\/london-protest-today-far-right-b2947672.html\"><span>half a million people<\/span><\/a><span> gathered to take part in the larger <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.togetheralliance.org.uk\/\"><span>Together Alliance<\/span><\/a><span> march throughout Central London, smashing records and cementing the demonstration as the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/uk-news\/2026\/mar\/28\/london-far-right-march-biggest-ever-multicultural-protest\"><span>largest multicultural demonstration in UK history<\/span><\/a><span>. At the centre of it all was the House Against Hate free-entry rave, organised by <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/r3_soundsystem\/\"><span>R3 Soundsystem<\/span><\/a><span>. DJs and artists such as Ben UFO, Katy B, Shygirl, Hot Chip, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, and GIDE\u00d6N (the man behind R3 Soundsystem) took to the stage to take aim <\/span><span>at the far-right amid <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ipsos.com\/en-uk\/reform-uk-still-holds-8-point-lead-gap-shrinks-amid-doubts-over-their-readiness-government-ipsos\"><span>Reform party popularity<\/span><\/a><span> and increased anti-immigration, anti-trans, and xenophobic rhetoric.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThis isn\u2019t going to be a smooth process,\u201d artist Joy Crookes tells Dazed at the event. \u201cThe years ahead of us, especially while people like Trump are still in power, are going to be a very testing time. We need to lock in, and if that looks like the smallest protest in the world, like talking to a problematic family member, or it looks like standing at Trafalgar Square and saying something, then both count.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>In September 2025, Tommy Robinson led the far-right Unite the Kingdom rally, garnering unprecedented numbers as <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.met.police.uk\/foi-ai\/metropolitan-police\/disclosure-2025\/september-2025\/predicted-estimated-attendance-unite-the-kingdom-counter-demonstrations\/\"><span>150,000 people<\/span><\/a><span> took to London\u2019s streets, resulting in <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/uk-news\/2025\/sep\/13\/unite-the-kingdom-far-right-rally-london-tommy-robinson-police-assaulted\"><span>violent clashes with police<\/span><\/a><span>. Now, just six months later, a change in the tide feels palpable, as those numbers were more than tripled by those who rallied to oppose the far-right, instead choosing to stand for the justice and equality of marginalised people everywhere.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cMan, everyone should be here,\u201d says 19-year-old Rowan May Early Wray under a fire engine red messenger hat. \u201cIt\u2019s extremely important because people getting together in person \u2013 especially against hatred \u2013 is a dying art. I&#8217;m just happy to see people together and interacting in a normal human way. This is the UK. This is what the UK should be.\u201d Wray\u2019s friend, 18-year-old Oli Taylor, chimes in, adding, \u201cSomething like this makes it easier for people to speak out. Music is the language that goes across all languages.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>For a few auspicious hours, Central London\u2019s streets were reclaimed, and Trafalgar Square became a place of blissed-out liberation and celebratory defiance.
