to new stats from Alinea Analytics, which claims <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eurogamer.net\/personas\/hideo-kojima\">Hideo Kojima<\/a>&#8216;s second Death Stranding game has sold 425,000 copies in its opening week.<\/p>\n<p>On top of the 1.6 million copies sold thus far on PS5, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach&#8217;s total volume now tops 2 million.<\/p>\n<figure>\n<div class=\"video_wrapper Kojima Productions&#8217; sales by over 20 percent, generating an estimated \u00a382.6 million ($110m) on PS5, and \u00a324.5 million ($32.6m) on PC.<\/p>\n<p>Interestingly, the analysis also claims the PC release prompted a secondary spike in PS5 sales, too. While it&#8217;s possible a sizeable price cut helped convert sales, analyst Rhys Elliott suggests &#8220;the discount was only part of the story&#8221;, and believes the PC release was an effective re-marketing tool for PS5, too.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"injection_placeholder\" data-position=\"1\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Players are getting sucked into Death Stranding 2 on PC,&#8221; Elliott wrote. &#8220;In a week, it has an average playtime of 18 hours. Over a third of the player base on Steam has already played for 20 hours or more, and almost 5 percent has played for over 50 hours.
