The Cure\u2019s <\/span><em><span>Seventeen Seconds<\/span><\/em><span> was written in a single night. Led Zeppelin&#8217;s debut album was recorded in 36 hours, and Jack White holds the record with <\/span><em><span>Lazaretto<\/span><\/em><span>, which was recorded and released in less than four hours. Over the past two years, we\u2019ve seen more and more pop stars indulge their need for speed. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/doechii\"><span>Doechii\u2019s<\/span><\/a><span> Grammy-winning mixtape <\/span><em><span>Alligator Bites Never Heal <\/span><\/em><span>was written and recorded within a month. And in 2025, Lily Allen\u2019s revenge record <\/span><em><span>West End Girl <\/span><\/em><span>was bashed out in just 10 days.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Today (March 27), another album joins the list of projects recorded at high velocity: Fcukers\u2019 debut album, <\/span><em><span>\u00d6.<\/span><\/em><span> Whether it will go down in history or not, well, we\u2019ll see. The New York duo, also known as Shanny Wise and Jackson Walker Lewis, completed the 11-track project in two weeks total \u2013 a challenge set by producer Kenneth Blume. \u201cHe asked us to make three new songs a day,\u201d says Walker Lewis. \u201cIt was more of a creative experiment. We\u2019d do one and he\u2019d say, \u2018OK, you\u2019ve done enough, next!\u2019\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The chaos and pace of the album&#8217;s creation is reflected in its sound: high BPM electronic club music that interrupts itself with jolts of drum and bass, house music, trap and R&amp;B. They couldn\u2019t be called Fcukers without a sense of humour, and as a result, everything they do is laced with a sense of satire. Even the way they answer interview questions makes it difficult to tell if they\u2019re being entirely serious. They caught the attention of former <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/celine\"><span>Celine<\/span><\/a><span> creative director <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/hedi-slimane\"><span>Hedi Slimane<\/span><\/a><span>, who flew them out to Paris to perform at one of his fashion show afterparties. After a huge 2025, ticking off Coachella, Primavera and Glastonbury, the party is far from over. Today they unleash their debut album, then they\u2019re headed on a world tour, stopping off to support <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/harry-styles\"><span>Harry Styles<\/span><\/a><span> during his residency in Brazil. Below, they explain how Prince and Chase &amp; Status became unexpected inspirations, and tell the story of their craziest London night out.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>How are you feeling about releasing your debut album?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Jackson Walker Lewis: <\/strong><span>I feel like the album has been burning a hole in my pocket, so when we announced it I was like, \u2018<\/span><span>thank God\u2019. I was ready for it to come out in September \u2013 let\u2019s get this thing out.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>How do you pronounce the name of the album, \u2018\u00d6\u2019?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Shanny Wise:<\/strong><span> I like to think of it like, \u2018oooo\u2019.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Is there a story behind the name?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Shanny Wise: <\/strong><span>We felt like a word or a sentence would be saying too much. We wanted it to be outside the box, so we decided it should just be one letter. We went through the alphabet and landed on O.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Jackson Walker Lewis: <\/strong><span>We liked the symbolism \u2013 like how Prince did it. We were like, \u2018why don\u2019t we just rock a symbol like Prince did\u2019? We thought it was cool.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>What\u2019s the mood of this album?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Jackson Walker Lewis: <\/strong><span>It\u2019s more of a theme record than a mood record. We were listening to a lot of 2000s hip-hop when we were making it, but we wanted to collage that in new ways. \u2018Butterflies\u2019 is an R&amp;B song, but it\u2019s over UKG. \u2018Lonely\u2019 is Atlanta-based, but then we go into house music. \u2018Play Me\u2019 is drum and bass with a trap breakdown. With every song, we were trying to create a new combination \u2013 we didn\u2019t want any of them to be just one thing.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Can you tell me more about the specific artists you were listening to?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Jackson Walker Lewis: <\/strong><span>We were listening to everything from Kelis to Andre 3000 to The Neptunes to JT. How are you feeling about it?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Jackson Walker Lewis: <\/strong><span>Shanny and I didn\u2019t realise how big he is. I know that sounds so dumb, but we don\u2019t follow him on Instagram. Then when the tour got announced our phones started blowing up. We thought Tame Impala was a huge deal \u2013 I was like \u2018Harry\u2019s not bigger than Tame Impala?\u2019 But everyone else was like, \u2018you\u2019re dead wrong\u2019. He\u2019s way bigger than Tame Impala, my bad! Harry, \u2018Aperture\u2019 was sick and we\u2019re going to rock with you.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>You\u2019re also about to go on your own tour. Do you have a favourite gig you\u2019ve ever played?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Shanny Wise: <\/strong><span>Probably one of the London ones.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Jackson Walker Lewis:<\/strong><span> Yeah, either Colour Factory or Primavera.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>How do you think London crowds compare to other places?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Shanny Wise: <\/strong><span>Goated.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Jackson Walker Lewis: <\/strong><span>Everyone says y\u2019all are stiff, but I don\u2019t see that at all. Manchester needs to step up.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>When was the last time you had a big night out in London?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Jackson Walker Lewis: <\/strong><span>I don\u2019t think we ever partied as hard as we did after that first London gig [at the Pickle Factory in 2024].\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Shanny Wise: <\/strong><span>I didn\u2019t have anywhere to stay. I left my suitcase at the venue and went out partying. I woke up on a couch somewhere in London the next day like, \u2018where the fuck am I?\u2019\u00a0I had bronchitis and was smoking a cig in one hand and had my inhaler in the other.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Jackson Walker Lewis: <\/strong><span>We ended up at an afters, it was at one of the members of Black Country, New Road\u2019s house; I still don\u2019t know which one. Shanny and I were on a lot of shrooms, among other stuff. We were glazed. The host [the unknown member of Black Country, New Road] says to us: \u2018it\u2019s cool that you\u2019re here, but no one is allowed to go in that room.\u2019 20 minutes went by and everyone was in that room. Gorillaz\u2019s \u2018Dare\u2019 played on loop.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span>With every song, we were trying to create a new combination \u2013 we didn\u2019t want any of them to be just one thing<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>Will you be partying much on tour this year?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Shanny Wise: <\/strong><span>It\u2019s always a party with us.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Who do you call for a good night out?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Jackson Walker Lewis: <\/strong><span>George Bass from King Krule. That guy can have a night out, for sure.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>How do you know when to end a night out?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Shanny Wise: <\/strong><span>I\u2019m still wondering about that myself.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Jackson Walker Lewis: <\/strong><span>I think seeing the sunrise should be reserved for goated nights of the year. It feels like a very special thing for me, and I have a weird thing about not overusing it. But some nights I\u2019m like, \u2018this is one of those nights\u2019. \u00a0I\u2019ll call it if it\u2019s not a sunrise kind of night.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>What\u2019s a New York nightclub that you\u2019d recommend?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Shanny Wise:<\/strong><span> Basement!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Jackson Walker Lewis: <\/strong><span>Yeah Basement, wow. If you\u2019ve never been to Basement, it\u2019s like Berghain cosplay but it\u2019s still really good. The Cure\u2019s <\/span><em><span>Seventeen Seconds<\/span><\/em><span> was written in a single night. Led Zeppelin&#8217;s debut album was recorded in 36 hours, and Jack White holds the record with <\/span><em><span>Lazaretto<\/span><\/em><span>, which was recorded and released in less than four hours. Over the past two years, we\u2019ve seen more and more pop stars indulge their need for speed. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/doechii\"><span>Doechii\u2019s<\/span><\/a><span> Grammy-winning mixtape <\/span><em><span>Alligator Bites Never Heal <\/span><\/em><span>was written and recorded within a month. And in 2025, Lily Allen\u2019s revenge record <\/span><em><span>West End Girl <\/span><\/em><span>was bashed out in just 10 days.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Today (March 27), another album joins the list of projects recorded at high velocity: Fcukers\u2019 debut album, <\/span><em><span>\u00d6.<\/span><\/em><span> Whether it will go down in history or not, well, we\u2019ll see. The New York duo, also known as Shanny Wise and Jackson Walker Lewis, completed the 11-track project in two weeks total \u2013 a challenge set by producer Kenneth Blume. \u201cHe asked us to make three new songs a day,\u201d says Walker Lewis. \u201cIt was more of a creative experiment. We\u2019d do one and he\u2019d say, \u2018OK, you\u2019ve done enough, next!\u2019\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The chaos and pace of the album&#8217;s creation is reflected in its sound: high BPM electronic club music that interrupts itself with jolts of drum and bass, house music, trap and R&amp;B. They couldn\u2019t be called Fcukers without a sense of humour, and as a result, everything they do is laced with a sense of satire. Even the way they answer interview questions makes it difficult to tell if they\u2019re being entirely serious. They caught the attention of former <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/celine\"><span>Celine<\/span><\/a><span> creative director <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/hedi-slimane\"><span>Hedi Slimane<\/span><\/a><span>, who flew them out to Paris to perform at one of his fashion show afterparties. After a huge 2025, ticking off Coachella, Primavera and Glastonbury, the party is far from over. Today they unleash their debut album, then they\u2019re headed on a world tour, stopping off to support <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/harry-styles\"><span>Harry Styles<\/span><\/a><span> during his residency in Brazil. Below, they explain how Prince and Chase &amp; Status became unexpected inspirations, and tell the story of their craziest London night out.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>How are you feeling about releasing your debut album?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Jackson Walker Lewis: <\/strong><span>I feel like the album has been burning a hole in my pocket, so when we announced it I was like, \u2018<\/span><span>thank God\u2019. I was ready for it to come out in September \u2013 let\u2019s get this thing out.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>How do you pronounce the name of the album, \u2018\u00d6\u2019?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Shanny Wise:<\/strong><span> I like to think of it like, \u2018oooo\u2019.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Is there a story behind the name?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Shanny Wise: <\/strong><span>We felt like a word or a sentence would be saying too much. We wanted it to be outside the box, so we decided it should just be one letter. We went through the alphabet and landed on O.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Jackson Walker Lewis: <\/strong><span>We liked the symbolism \u2013 like how Prince did it. We were like, \u2018why don\u2019t we just rock a symbol like Prince did\u2019? We thought it was cool.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>What\u2019s the mood of this album?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Jackson Walker Lewis: <\/strong><span>It\u2019s more of a theme record than a mood record. We were listening to a lot of 2000s hip-hop when we were making it, but we wanted to collage that in new ways. \u2018Butterflies\u2019 is an R&amp;B song, but it\u2019s over UKG. \u2018Lonely\u2019 is Atlanta-based, but then we go into house music. \u2018Play Me\u2019 is drum and bass with a trap breakdown. With every song, we were trying to create a new combination \u2013 we didn\u2019t want any of them to be just one thing.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Can you tell me more about the specific artists you were listening to?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Jackson Walker Lewis: <\/strong><span>We were listening to everything from Kelis to Andre 3000 to The Neptunes to JT. I know that sounds so dumb, but we don\u2019t follow him on Instagram. Then when the tour got announced our phones started blowing up. We thought Tame Impala was a huge deal \u2013 I was like \u2018Harry\u2019s not bigger than Tame Impala?\u2019 But everyone else was like, \u2018you\u2019re dead wrong\u2019. He\u2019s way bigger than Tame Impala, my bad! Harry, \u2018Aperture\u2019 was sick and we\u2019re going to rock with you.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>You\u2019re also about to go on your own tour. Do you have a favourite gig you\u2019ve ever played?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Shanny Wise: <\/strong><span>Probably one of the London ones.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Jackson Walker Lewis:<\/strong><span> Yeah, either Colour Factory or Primavera.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>How do you think London crowds compare to other places?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Shanny Wise: <\/strong><span>Goated.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Jackson Walker Lewis: <\/strong><span>Everyone says y\u2019all are stiff, but I don\u2019t see that at all. Manchester needs to step up.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>When was the last time you had a big night out in London?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Jackson Walker Lewis: <\/strong><span>I don\u2019t think we ever partied as hard as we did after that first London gig [at the Pickle Factory in 2024].\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Shanny Wise: <\/strong><span>I didn\u2019t have anywhere to stay. I left my suitcase at the venue and went out partying. I woke up on a couch somewhere in London the next day like, \u2018where the fuck am I?\u2019\u00a0I had bronchitis and was smoking a cig in one hand and had my inhaler in the other.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Jackson Walker Lewis: <\/strong><span>We ended up at an afters, it was at one of the members of Black Country, New Road\u2019s house; I still don\u2019t know which one. Shanny and I were on a lot of shrooms, among other stuff. We were glazed. The host [the unknown member of Black Country, New Road] says to us: \u2018it\u2019s cool that you\u2019re here, but no one is allowed to go in that room.\u2019 20 minutes went by and everyone was in that room.
