href=\"https:\/\/www.willyweather.com.au\/vic\/ovens--murray\/mount-hotham.html\"><b>Mount Hotham Airport station<\/b><\/a><b> recorded a temperature of 0.9\u00b0C (34\u00baF) on Thursday, with a feels-like temperature of -5.1\u00b0C (23\u00baF) and strong south-southwest winds gusting over 30 km\/h (19 mph).<\/b> The resort\u2019s weather station also recorded the coldest reading in the state, at -2.2\u00b0C (28\u00baF) at a nearby monitoring point.<\/p>\n<p><b>The Bureau of Meteorology forecasted snow above 1,400 metres (4,600 feet) and showers in the east, with damaging winds possible in some areas.<\/b> Mount Hotham\u2019s summit, at <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Mount_Hotham\">1,862 metres (6,109 feet)<\/a>, means the snowline is across the resort.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">\n<p><b>Snowfall in late March is unusual.<\/b> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.snow-forecast.com\/resorts\/Mount-Hotham\/history\">Historical data<\/a> show that Mount Hotham averages zero centimetres of snow during the last week of March, the end of the Southern Hemisphere\u2019s summer.<\/p>\n<p><b>Most Australian ski resorts officially open for the season on the second Sunday, March 29, with mostly sunny conditions and a slight chance of morning fog. By the start of April, daytime highs are expected to reach 20\u00b0C to 26\u00b0C (68\u00baF to 79\u00baF), with partly cloudy skies and light winds.
