After decades of dominating the extreme metal world, Brazilian legends Sepultura<\/strong> are closing the chapter for good. While the band is still ironing out details for their final show, it’s now clear that the classic brotherly duo of Max<\/strong> and Iggor Cavalera<\/strong> will not be part of the farewell.<\/p>\n The Cavalera<\/strong> brothers were foundational to Sepultura<\/strong>‘s rise, driving the band’s pioneering sound through albums like Beneath the Remains<\/em>, Arise<\/em>, and the genre-defining Roots<\/em>. But internal disputes led to Max<\/strong>‘s exit in 1996, with Iggor<\/strong> eventually departing in 2006.<\/p>\n Since then, the siblings have reunited under the Cavalera<\/strong> banner, revisiting Sepultura<\/strong> classics and touring them extensively for fans old and new. Despite the estrangement, guitarist Andreas Kisser<\/strong> had long hoped to create a full-circle moment for Sepultura<\/strong>‘s final show: “We don’t care who is right or wrong. We’re never gonna get to that point.<\/p>\n “We have different points of view about the same historical events. So let’s jam, let’s have a good time for the fans, for us, for ourselves, and really close this amazing 43 years or 44\u2026 in peace with ourselves, and maybe do something different afterwards.”<\/p>\n However, those hopes have now been dashed. Kisser<\/strong> revealed in an interview with Metal Hammer<\/em> that attempts to reunite the classic lineup were respectfully declined: “We did invite the Cavalera<\/strong> brothers.<\/p>\n “I spoke to Iggor<\/strong> personally on a phone call a few months ago and we started some communication. Even our managers went to talk to their management and stuff. But, they don’t want to be a part of it, and that’s OK. It’s a choice.”<\/p>\n Despite the absence of the Cavaleras<\/strong>, Kisser<\/strong> remains determined to make the final Sepultura<\/strong> show a celebration: “[It would make sense] to have a celebration at the end, for the fans, and just enjoy ourselves onstage. Like it was on Roots<\/em>, you know? Despite all the crazy stuff around it, we managed to make that album and finish what we had to do.”<\/p>\n Sepultura<\/strong>‘s final North American trek \u2013 Celebrating Life Through Death \u2013 kicks off April 29 in Montclair, NJ and will hit major cities including Montreal, Detroit, Chicago, Denver, and Los Angeles.
