It\u2019s what I would want to play to the people this week.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Her single \u201cprax<\/span><span>is\u201d\u00a0\u2013 off her upcoming album, <\/span><em><span>Whole World As Vigil<\/span><\/em><span> \u2013 <\/span><span>is a perennially catchy take on baroque pop, propelling itself forward with bombastic production and\u00a0 earworm lyrics such as, <\/span><span>\u201c<\/span><em><span>every time I step out of the house that\u2019s praxis\/ every step I take keeps the world on its axis<\/span><\/em><span>\u201d. This forward motion is evoked in the track\u2019s accompanying visualiser, featuring Auder standing in the midst of the busy, perpetually moving public. \u201c\u2018praxis\u2019 is built around a sample of a power drill cutting through metal,\u201d she explains. \u201cIts seemingly perpetual motion and unstoppable movement felt apt in parallel with an important part of my own philosophy, that keeping yourself moving forward is enough to live for.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>In anticipation of next week\u2019s album release, we caught up with Auder to discuss her music, her go-to London spots, and top three pop songs of all time. Listen to her Dazed mix below.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Congrats <\/strong><strong>on <\/strong><strong><em>Whole World As Vigil<\/em><\/strong><strong>. Can you tell me about the making of the album? What inspired the album name?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Lauren Auder: <\/strong><span>Thank you! It\u2019s been a long process. I\u2019ve been writing it for the past four years, it feels amazing to be close to having it out. There\u2019s a lot going on in that title but, essentially, it\u2019s about how the world always bears witness to your life, and you have to pay attention right back.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Your single <strong>\u2018<\/strong>praxis<strong>\u2019<\/strong> is out now. What were you thinking when making the track?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Lauren Auder: <\/strong><span>The main thrust of the song came together quickly. As soon as I heard the sample around which it was built I knew I wanted to write a track about how movement gives life meaning. What\u2019s three of your all-time biggest pop songs?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Lauren Auder: <\/strong>\u2018<span>Dancing in the Dark\u2019 by the Boss, \u2018Ribs\u2019 by Lorde, \u2018What It Feels Like For A Girl\u2019\u00a0by Madonna.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Describe your perfect day in London.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Lauren Auder: <\/strong><span>Wake up listening to the news on the radio, walk to Cafe Oto, write for an hour, read for an hour, eat a sandwich at my favourite Italian deli Gallo Nero II, listen to music in the park, drink wine at the Beaujolais in Soho with friends.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>What\u2019s the best and worst advice you\u2019ve ever received?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Lauren Auder: <\/strong><span>Most advice I\u2019ve ever received has been useless. The best advice I ever got, at least in regards to creative endeavours, is to surround yourself with people who are at the same stage of their career or process as you are, to enter a slipstream together, to hold similar stakes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>What are you listening to at the moment?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Lauren Auder: <\/strong><span>I listen to so much music it feels hard\u2026 But at the minute my favourites are <em>caf\u00e9 LIFE <\/em>by Vanessa Amara, <em>Pony Express Record<\/em> by Shudder To Think, and kind of obsessively Isaac Hayes\u2019 <em>Hot Buttered Soul.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"instagram-container embed-content\" data-embed-type=\"media-instagram\" data-script-depends=\"instagram-embeds\">\n<script async src=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/embed.js\"><\/script><\/div>\n<div class=\"embed-content\" data-embed-type=\"raw-html\">\n<p><strong>Tell us about your Dazed mix.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Lauren Auder: <\/strong><span>I think I\u2019d love to be a radio DJ. It\u2019s what I would want to play to the people this week.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Her single \u201cprax<\/span><span>is\u201d\u00a0\u2013 off her upcoming album, <\/span><em><span>Whole World As Vigil<\/span><\/em><span> \u2013 <\/span><span>is a perennially catchy take on baroque pop, propelling itself forward with bombastic production and\u00a0 earworm lyrics such as, <\/span><span>\u201c<\/span><em><span>every time I step out of the house that\u2019s praxis\/ every step I take keeps the world on its axis<\/span><\/em><span>\u201d. This forward motion is evoked in the track\u2019s accompanying visualiser, featuring Auder standing in the midst of the busy, perpetually moving public. \u201c\u2018praxis\u2019 is built around a sample of a power drill cutting through metal,\u201d she explains. \u201cIts seemingly perpetual motion and unstoppable movement felt apt in parallel with an important part of my own philosophy, that keeping yourself moving forward is enough to live for.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>In anticipation of next week\u2019s album release, we caught up with Auder to discuss her music, her go-to London spots, and top three pop songs of all time. Listen to her Dazed mix below.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Congrats <\/strong><strong>on <\/strong><strong><em>Whole World As Vigil<\/em><\/strong><strong>. Can you tell me about the making of the album? What inspired the album name?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Lauren Auder: <\/strong><span>Thank you! It\u2019s been a long process. I\u2019ve been writing it for the past four years, it feels amazing to be close to having it out. There\u2019s a lot going on in that title but, essentially, it\u2019s about how the world always bears witness to your life, and you have to pay attention right back.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Your single <strong>\u2018<\/strong>praxis<strong>\u2019<\/strong> is out now. What were you thinking when making the track?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Lauren Auder: <\/strong><span>The main thrust of the song came together quickly. As soon as I heard the sample around which it was built I knew I wanted to write a track about how movement gives life meaning. What\u2019s three of your all-time biggest pop songs?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Lauren Auder: <\/strong>\u2018<span>Dancing in the Dark\u2019 by the Boss, \u2018Ribs\u2019 by Lorde, \u2018What It Feels Like For A Girl\u2019\u00a0by Madonna.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Describe your perfect day in London.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Lauren Auder: <\/strong><span>Wake up listening to the news on the radio, walk to Cafe Oto, write for an hour, read for an hour, eat a sandwich at my favourite Italian deli Gallo Nero II, listen to music in the park, drink wine at the Beaujolais in Soho with friends.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>What\u2019s the best and worst advice you\u2019ve ever received?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Lauren Auder: <\/strong><span>Most advice I\u2019ve ever received has been useless. The best advice I ever got, at least in regards to creative endeavours, is to surround yourself with people who are at the same stage of their career or process as you are, to enter a slipstream together, to hold similar stakes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>What are you listening to at the moment?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Lauren Auder: <\/strong><span>I listen to so much music it feels hard\u2026 But at the minute my favourites are <em>caf\u00e9 LIFE <\/em>by Vanessa Amara, <em>Pony Express Record<\/em> by Shudder To Think, and kind of obsessively Isaac Hayes\u2019 <em>Hot Buttered Soul.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"instagram-container embed-content\" data-embed-type=\"media-instagram\" data-script-depends=\"instagram-embeds\">\n<script async src=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/embed.js\"><\/script><\/div>\n<div class=\"embed-content\" data-embed-type=\"raw-html\">\n<p><strong>Tell us about your Dazed mix.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Lauren Auder: <\/strong><span>I think I\u2019d love to be a radio DJ.
