Well, it was only a matter of time. No, not that the bright yellow thing in the sky we\u2019ve all been treated to recently would disappear, but the news Mercedes\u2019 facelifted S-Class<\/a> would receive the Maybach glow up. Taste police, where you at?<\/p>\n

So, from the top. Or rather, outside, where the Maybach grille is now even bigger \u2013 by some 20 per cent, in fact. It\u2019s also illuminated, along with the three-pointed star atop the bonnet and Maybach emblem on the C-pillar, just in case anyone somehow <\/em>fails to see you coming.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Moving on. The headlights get a rose gold finish, while the forged wheels \u2013 available in 20in or 21in size \u2013 also now get self-levelling centre caps. Ooh, pretty.<\/p>\n

But it\u2019s inside, accessed via doors which open and close at the touch of a button, where the magic really is. Front and centre sits Mercedes\u2019 pillar to pillar Superscreen dashboard, comprising a 12.3in digital instrument cluster, 14.4in central touchscreen and a 12.3in passenger display. Almost like those rows of display TVs down your local department store, in fact…<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

More importantly, in the back there\u2019s two armchair-style seats, plus individual 13.1in displays and a redesigned centre console, complete with remote controls and cupholders that are an exact fit for the accompanying silver-plated Robbe & Berking champagne flutes.<\/p>\n

And because there ain\u2019t no party like a champagne party, further back you\u2019ll find a 10-litre refrigerated compartment for your champers, or whatever else it is the super rich like to finish the day off with.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Speaking of finishes, there\u2019s a palette of more than 150 exterior paints and over 400 interior colours to choose from, while a leather-free interior is available for the first time. For the right money, of course, you can have pretty much any interior you desire, courtesy of the Manufaktur Made to Measure programme.<\/p>\n

Under all that wealth, a choice of powertrains are available, ranging from 6.0-litre V12 (selected markets only), to 4.0-litre V8 mild hybrid, to 3.0-litre straight six plug-in hybrid, the latter with an e-range of over 60 miles. Like you care.<\/p>\n
