Knauss\u2014approximately 30\u201335 kilometers (19 \u2013 22 miles) north of Terrace.<\/strong> Authorities say four heli-skiers were caught in an avalanche on the Iridium Shoulder ski run just before 1:30 p.m. local time.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Emergency responders, including BC Emergency Health Services, were dispatched after receiving a report from lodge staff.<\/strong> One skier was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries and is now in stable condition, while the other three victims were found deceased at the scene.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Avalanche Canada confirmed that the group had two sons, and that the guide was the critically injured person.<\/strong> It also identified the heli skiing company involved, however, these details have not been independently verified. RCMP has not identified the victims or the injured survivor by name or age.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The deadly avalanche comes amid a period of heightened avalanche danger across the province.<\/strong> Avalanche Canada had issued warnings of \u201cconsiderable\u201d risk in alpine terrain throughout northwest British Columbia, citing recent snowfall combined with strong southwest winds.
