Round 1 alone, over 65,000 votes were cast by SnowBrains followers across social media platforms to help decide what the best ski resort in North America is.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Related: <a Edition 2026: Vote on the Best Ski Resort in North America<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>There was a shocking number of close matchups throughout Round 1, with 1\/3 matchups being decided by less than a 10% margin.<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Okemo Mountain Resort barely beat out Cannon Mountain with just 51.7% of the vote.<\/li>\n<li>Le Massif de Charlevoix edged out Holiday Valley by just 51% of the vote.<\/li>\n<li>Arapahoe Basin Ski Area squeezed by Steamboat Resort, with only 51.5% of the vote.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>There were also some shocking upsets:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.palisadestahoe.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Palisades Tahoe<\/a> (a semi-finalist in last year\u2019s bracket) lost to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.skibanff.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Banff Sunshine<\/a> by a mere 0.3% of the vote.<\/li>\n<li>The biggest ski resort in America, Park City Mountain, was taken down by the small but snowiest ski resort on the continent, Mt. Baker Ski Area.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>And, we saw some heavyweight matchups with big wins:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Alta Ski Area vs. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mammothmountain.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mammoth Mountain<\/a> saw the skier-only resort prevail.<\/li>\n<li>The two Vermont icons of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.killington.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Killington Resort<\/a> and Sugarbush Resort saw the reigning East Coast March Madness Champion (the Beast) move on to Round 2.<\/li>\n<li>Vail was surpassed by PNW heavyweight <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mtbachelor.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mt.
