It&#8217;s been noted that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/newsletters\/2026-03-20\/obsidian-director-has-thoughts-on-how-to-build-video-games-faster\">devs are really worried about the current triple-A &#8220;bloat&#8221; affecting so many aspects of game dev<\/a>, but even so it&#8217;s surprising to hear these words via an official marketing video from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eurogamer.net\/companies\/square-enix\">Square Enix<\/a> itself.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"injection_placeholder\" data-position=\"1\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Mind you, Square Enix has made good efforts through remasters, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eurogamer.net\/final-fantasy-7-remake-3-will-not-compromise-on-graphics-whatsoever-despite-move-to-multiplatform-release\">remakes<\/a>, spinoff entries, and whatnot to keep Final Fantasy fans busy in between new mainline releases, but with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eurogamer.net\/final-fantasy-15-review\">FF15<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eurogamer.net\/final-fantasy-review-16-easy-to-like-hard-to-adore\">16<\/a> causing division among them and not exactly representing what most of the franchise&#8217;s classic titles have become beloved for, these newer titles are perhaps not seen as optimal entry points for newcomers.
