(SPD) deputy parliamentary group leader, told the <em>Rheinische Post<\/em> that the committee was considering aid for domestic fertilizer producers as well as tax relief for the food industry.<\/p>\n<p>Like <a class=\"internal-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dw.com\/en\/how-oil-price-hikes-threaten-germanys-economy\/a-76330530\">oil<\/a> and gas, <a class=\"internal-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dw.com\/en\/iran-us-israel-war-food-crisis-prices-fertilizer-energy-costs-inflation\/a-76286348\">fertilizer prices have shot up in recent weeks<\/a> due to the conflict, as Gulf countries are also major producers of nitrogen-based\u00a0soil nutrients, including urea and ammonia.<\/p>\n<p>Around a quarter of the global fertilizer trade typically passes through the <a class=\"internal-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dw.com\/en\/strait-of-hormuz\/t-76193780\">Strait of Hormuz<\/a> for export. <a class=\"internal-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dw.com\/en\/iran\/t-18996175\">Iran<\/a> has effectively shut Hormuz and carried out attacks on shipping.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Higher prices for fertilizer and transportation threaten to lead to rising food prices,&#8221; Limbacher said, adding that\u00a0the task force will consider\u00a0&#8220;measures to curb inflation&#8221; next week.<\/p>\n<p>He warned that without countermeasures, life will become noticeably more expensive for many German residents.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Inflation is poison for people with average incomes and for our economy. Nearly 1,400 crimes were violent offenses.<\/p>\n<p>Irene Mihalic, the Greens&#8217;\u00a0parliamentary representative on interior affairs, said there was no reason to\u00a0believe support for far-right extremism is on the wane.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Almost 37,000 offenses demonstrate how massive the problem remains.
