unseasonably warm temperatures and low snowfall brought one of the most challenging winters in recent memory. <\/strong>The March 22 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.snowbasin.com\/blog\/news\/closing-day-2026\/\">closure<\/a> is significantly earlier than Snowbasin\u2019s typical mid-April closing dates and appears to be the earliest end to a as the primary factor behind the decision. <\/strong>\u201cThis is not ideal. This is not what we wanted,\u201d Ratchford said. \u201cBut Mother Nature had a different plan for us this year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>The early closure comes in stark contrast to recent winters.<\/strong> Just three years ago, Snowbasin recorded <a href=\"https:\/\/snowbrains.com\/snowbasin-ut-report-22-lake-effect-powder-overnight-504-of-record-breaking-snowfall-this-season\/\">one of the snowiest seasons in its history<\/a>. In a rather unusual move, Ratchford suggested visitors explore other resorts in the state that will remain open longer. \u201cThere\u2019s still a great skiing around the state of Utah so please go check out some of the other great mountains that Utah has to offer,\u201d Ratchford urged. \u201cThey\u2019re all working incredibly hard just like we were to keep things going and create a great experience, so please check out all of the other resorts in Utah\u2014and please come back to us in the summer,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Snowbasin will mark the end of its 85th ski season with its annual <a href=\"https:\/\/www.snowbasin.com\/events\/closing-day-s-basin-bash\/\">Basin Bash<\/a> event on March 22.<\/strong> The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.snowbasin.com\/events\/closing-day-s-basin-bash\/\">closing celebration<\/a> will feature an \u201980s theme, including live music, a costume contest, and on-mountain festivities.
