What began on Staten Island in the early 1990s \u2013 nine MCs, kung-fu films, dusty soul samples and a radically new approach to hip hop \u2013 grew into one of the most influential collectives the genre has ever seen. The group rewrote the rules of rap careers, building a network of solo projects that made each member a star in their own right while still orbiting around the Wu universe.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Now, more than 30 years after <\/span><em><span>Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)<\/span><\/em><span> first rattled speakers in 1993, the group are preparing to take a final bow. <\/span><span>Their farewell run, titled <\/span><em><span>The Final Chamber<\/span><\/em><span>, began in North America last summer with a 27-date arena tour that exceeded expectations, proving that legacy hip-hop tours can still fill stadiums. This month, the tour arrives in Europe, including a stop at London\u2019s O2 Arena on March 17 before continuing to Manchester and beyond.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>When we speak with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/rza\">RZA<\/a> on how it feels preparing for a tour framed as a farewell, he pauses for a moment before answering. <\/span><span>\u201cI hate to use the word bittersweet,\u201d he says, almost amused by how often it comes up. \u201cBecause that\u2019s what everybody else is saying. But there\u2019s definitely a feeling of completion. A feeling of gratitude. There\u2019s nostalgia. And there\u2019s also the feeling of \u2013 I\u2019ll just use the simple English word \u2013 wow.\u201d <\/span><span>He laughs. <\/span><span>\u201cLike how much time has passed and how long this journey has been in our music careers.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Wu-Tang Clan have never been a conventional group. Over the years, members have balanced solo albums, film roles, businesses and families, often moving in and out of the collective orbit. The idea of all of them committing to a unified farewell tour once seemed unlikely. But the Final Chamber tour brings them back together again, one last time. For RZA, the intention is simple: to close the circle with the fans who\u2019ve supported them since the beginning.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"embed-content\" data-embed-type=\"media-tiktok\" data-id=\"7615339239789595934\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"embed-content\" data-embed-type=\"raw-html\">\n<p><span>\u201cHaving a chance to make a decision to unify as a crew and go back out and say thank you to all our fans,\u201d he says. \u201cA lot of different emotions are popping up.\u201d <\/span><span>Revisiting songs that have been part of people\u2019s lives for decades inevitably changes the way those songs feel. But some, RZA says, have proved strangely timeless. <\/span><span>\u201cIf you take a song like <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/PBwAxmrE194?si=TrFzamX9FGegA5Av\"><em><span>C.R.E.A.M<\/span><\/em><\/a><em><span>.<\/span><\/em><span>, you realise that the world still operates in that same mind state,\u201d he says. \u201cEven though it\u2019s not cash anymore, right? It\u2019s digital now. But the idea that money rules everything around us is ironic but real.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Other songs have evolved in ways he couldn\u2019t have anticipated when they were first written. <\/span><span>One track that now carries a completely different weight is <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/7m148vZDwJA?si=nP3Wige1FutEqEvp\"><em><span>Can It Be All So Simple<\/span><\/em><\/a><span>, a reflective highlight from the group\u2019s debut album. When it was first released, the song looked back nostalgically at childhood and early struggles. Today it feels more like something else. \u201cNow it\u2019s almost like a wish than a question,\u201d RZA says. \u201cLike \u2013 can it be simple?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>On this tour, the song has taken on an even deeper meaning. The group performs it as a tribute to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/tag\/ol-dirty-bastard\">Ol\u2019 Dirty Bastard<\/a>, one of Wu-Tang\u2019s most charismatic and unpredictable members, who passed away in 2004. \u201cWhen we use that song now, we don\u2019t even do the raps,\u201d RZA explains. \u201cWe just let the sample play.\u201d <\/span><span>He pauses again. \u201cTo be quite honest with you, I\u2019m not shy to share that, for almost three nights in a row, there\u2019s been tears backstage.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The emotional weight of the tour comes partly from a contradiction that sits at the heart of Wu-Tang mythology. One of the group\u2019s most famous declarations \u2013 repeated in songs, tattoos and graffiti tags for decades \u2013 is simple: Wu-Tang is forever. <\/span><span>So how does a farewell tour fit into that? \u201cWhen we say Wu-Tang is forever, we know that,\u201d RZA says. \u201cAnd then now we have a Final Chamber tour.\u201d He acknowledges the paradox openly. \u201cSo what do those two things mean together? Do they contradict each other?&#8230; I think they do&#8230; But I think in a way that only Wu can do.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"embed-content\" data-embed-type=\"raw-html\">\n<blockquote>\n<p><span>If Wu-Tang was able to inspire someone to laugh, to rebel, to accept something, to fight, or even just to let something go \u2013 that\u2019s a blessing<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"embed-content\" data-embed-type=\"raw-html\">\n<p><span>Part of what makes the tour so poignant is the absence of members who are no longer here. When the first leg of the tour travelled across North America last year, the spirit of Ol\u2019 Dirty Bastard was never far from the stage. \u201cThis journey started in America and ODB was almost at every date he could be at,\u201d RZA says. <\/span><span>Now, as the tour moves across Europe, that absence becomes even more tangible. \u201cOne of the founders of this journey will not be here,\u201d he reflects. \u201cAnd that makes this moment very unique.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>For British fans, the tour also marks the return of a group that has always shared a special relationship with the UK. Long before hip hop dominated global charts, Wu-Tang\u2019s music found passionate audiences in Britain and helped them maintain their record deal with Sony at the time. <\/span><span>\u201cThe UK welcomed us with open arms from the early days,\u201d RZA says. He remembers those early trips vividly: packed rooms, raw energy and crowds who seemed to understand the group\u2019s chaotic, cinematic sound immediately.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cI remember being in the clubs and feeling that energy in the UK,\u201d he says. \u201cAnd then eventually coming back to play bigger stages.\u201d Over time, the UK audience became an important part of Wu-Tang\u2019s global story. \u201cSeeing the fans continue to support us and grow with us has been amazing.\u201d At certain moments, that support even helped shape the group\u2019s trajectory. When the collective released their 2000 album <\/span><em><span>The W<\/span><\/em><span>, the response overseas helped keep the project alive commercially. <\/span><span>\u201cWhen we dropped that album, the UK sparked things,\u201d he says. \u201c\u2018<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/Of-lpfsBR8U?si=ZVcZFxs-5poVseAA\">Gravel Pit\u2019<\/a><span> was a big hit here.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The influence Wu-Tang Clan have had on hip-hop culture is difficult to measure. Their impact stretches far beyond music, touching fashion, film, philosophy and even the way artists structure their careers. <\/span><span>But when asked which newer artists carry something of the Wu-Tang spirit today, RZA mentions a group he discovered online: <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/NjRvXjSHze4?si=lV-n4Bcsaf3MDVB4\"><span>Coast Contra.<\/span><\/a><span> \u201cThey embody the hip-hop culture the way Wu did,\u201d he says. <\/span><span>What he recognises in them isn\u2019t just lyrical skill, but something deeper \u2013 the chemistry of a collective. \u201cThey\u2019ve got that brotherhood.\u201d That dynamic was central to Wu-Tang\u2019s own creative process.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<figure class=\"inline-img expandable dev-view-hide\" data-img=\"d9213026-5958-45b7-8eef-b40f00cf360d\" data-src=\"https:\/\/images-prod.dazeddigital.com\/2000\/azure\/dazed-prod\/1440\/1\/1441724.jpg\" data-img-aspect-ratio-type=\"landscape\" data-img-aspect-ratio=\"1.51\"><span class=\"has-css-custom-props image-container\" data-aspect-ratio-type=\"landscape\"><span class=\"preserve-aspect-ratio\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Wu-Tang Clan: The Final Chamber\" class=\"img\" height=\"1360\" src=\"https:\/\/images-prod.dazeddigital.com\/1600\/azure\/dazed-prod\/1440\/1\/1441724.jpg\" width=\"2048\"><\/span><\/span><figcaption class=\"img-caption\"><span class=\"credit\">Brooklyn Prewett<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<div class=\"embed-content\" data-embed-type=\"raw-html\">\n<p><span>But while fans often romanticise the group\u2019s unity, RZA says the reality was often more competitive. <\/span><span>\u201cWe were competitive against each other,\u201d he says.\u00a0 But that competition had a purpose. \u201cWe were competitive to help each other. We\u2019d tell you straight \u2013 \u2018that verse ain\u2019t working, bro\u2019.\u201d The aim was always to push each other higher. \u201cEach one of us wanted to make sure the other one was dope.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Behind Wu-Tang\u2019s music sits RZA\u2019s distinctive production style \u2013 a raw, cinematic sound built from soul samples, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=RZ67KyHX-cY\"><span>kung fu dialogue<\/span><\/a><span> and eerie piano lines. Asked what principles guided his work across decades of albums, his answer is simple. <\/span><span>\u201cOriginality.\u201d <\/span><span>He explains that he always tried to avoid repeating himself musically. \u201cWhen you go through my catalogue, even though it all sounds like me, it\u2019s very diverse,\u201d he says. He starts listing examples almost instinctively. <\/span><span>\u201c\u2018M-E-T-H-O-D Man\u2019 don\u2019t sound like \u2018<\/span>Tearz<span>\u2019<\/span><span>. And<em> \u2018<\/em><\/span>Liquid Swords<span>\u2019<\/span> don\u2019t sound like <span>\u2018<\/span>Ironman<span>\u2019<\/span><span>.\u201d <\/span><span>Yet despite the differences, the identity remains unmistakable. <\/span><span>\u201cIt\u2019s the same guy behind it.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Another creative principle he values is spontaneity. \u201cI like what I call spontaneous combustion,\u201d he says. \u201cLet the art flow freely.\u201d That mindset has led him into unexpected creative spaces over the years, from directing films to composing orchestral music and even working on ballet productions. <\/span><span>\u201cI did a whole ballet,\u201d he says with a laugh. \u201cAnd I was cool with doing that.\u201d For RZA, artistic growth is about constantly expanding what you\u2019re capable of. \u201cYou start off painting a piece of fruit,\u201d he says. \u201cThen eventually maybe you paint a whole chapter.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>When the conversation turns to legacy \u2013 a word that inevitably follows artists with careers as long and influential as Wu-Tang\u2019s \u2013 he seems less interested in defining it than in reflecting on what the group may have sparked in others. <\/span><span>Instead of trying to summarise the group\u2019s impact, he focuses on something simpler. \u201cI hope we were able to inspire.\u201d Inspiration, he explains, is something internal \u2013 the moment when something moves you to act. <\/span><span>\u201cIf Wu-Tang was able to inspire someone to laugh, to rebel, to accept something, to fight, or even just to let something go \u2013 that\u2019s a blessing.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"embed-content\" data-embed-type=\"raw-html\">\n<blockquote>\n<p><span>We were competitive to help each other. We\u2019d tell you straight \u2014 \u2018that verse ain\u2019t working, bro\u2019<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"embed-content\" data-embed-type=\"raw-html\">\n<p><span>For RZA himself, inspiration came from unlikely places. Hip hop shaped his worldview, but so did kung-fu films, which he famously skipped school to watch in New York cinemas. \u201cKung-fu movies inspired me to cut school and go sit in the theatre,\u201d he says. <\/span><span>Those movies became an informal education, shaping the philosophy and storytelling that later defined Wu-Tang\u2019s music. \u201cAnd if we were able to do that for somebody else,\u201d he says, \u201cthat\u2019s a blessing.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>In the end, though, the legacy he thinks about most isn\u2019t artistic at all. \u201cAs a father, I pray that I\u2019ve been a good father, a good husband, a good man,\u201d he says. \u201cSo that the people who came from me can walk with their head up and say, yeah, I come from a good batch.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>When Wu-Tang Clan step onto the stage at the O2 Arena in London this month, they\u2019ll be carrying more than 30 years of hip-hop history with them. But the atmosphere will likely feel less like an ending and more like a gathering; one final moment for a group and their audience to celebrate everything that came before. <\/span><span>\u201cThere\u2019s nostalgia,\u201d RZA says again. <\/span><span>\u201cAnd gratitude.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Wu-Tang may always insist they\u2019re forever. What began on Staten Island in the early 1990s \u2013 nine MCs, kung-fu films, dusty soul samples and a radically new approach to hip hop \u2013 grew into one of the most influential collectives the genre has ever seen. The group rewrote the rules of rap careers, building a network of solo projects that made each member a star in their own right while still orbiting around the Wu universe.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Now, more than 30 years after <\/span><em><span>Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)<\/span><\/em><span> first rattled speakers in 1993, the group are preparing to take a final bow. <\/span><span>Their farewell run, titled <\/span><em><span>The Final Chamber<\/span><\/em><span>, began in North America last summer with a 27-date arena tour that exceeded expectations, proving that legacy hip-hop tours can still fill stadiums. This month, the tour arrives in Europe, including a stop at London\u2019s O2 Arena on March 17 before continuing to Manchester and beyond.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>When we speak with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/rza\">RZA<\/a> on how it feels preparing for a tour framed as a farewell, he pauses for a moment before answering. <\/span><span>\u201cI hate to use the word bittersweet,\u201d he says, almost amused by how often it comes up. \u201cBecause that\u2019s what everybody else is saying. But there\u2019s definitely a feeling of completion. A feeling of gratitude. There\u2019s nostalgia. And there\u2019s also the feeling of \u2013 I\u2019ll just use the simple English word \u2013 wow.\u201d <\/span><span>He laughs. <\/span><span>\u201cLike how much time has passed and how long this journey has been in our music careers.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Wu-Tang Clan have never been a conventional group. Over the years, members have balanced solo albums, film roles, businesses and families, often moving in and out of the collective orbit. The idea of all of them committing to a unified farewell tour once seemed unlikely. But the Final Chamber tour brings them back together again, one last time. For RZA, the intention is simple: to close the circle with the fans who\u2019ve supported them since the beginning.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"embed-content\" data-embed-type=\"media-tiktok\" data-id=\"7615339239789595934\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"embed-content\" data-embed-type=\"raw-html\">\n<p><span>\u201cHaving a chance to make a decision to unify as a crew and go back out and say thank you to all our fans,\u201d he says. \u201cA lot of different emotions are popping up.\u201d <\/span><span>Revisiting songs that have been part of people\u2019s lives for decades inevitably changes the way those songs feel. But some, RZA says, have proved strangely timeless. <\/span><span>\u201cIf you take a song like <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/PBwAxmrE194?si=TrFzamX9FGegA5Av\"><em><span>C.R.E.A.M<\/span><\/em><\/a><em><span>.<\/span><\/em><span>, you realise that the world still operates in that same mind state,\u201d he says. \u201cEven though it\u2019s not cash anymore, right? It\u2019s digital now. But the idea that money rules everything around us is ironic but real.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Other songs have evolved in ways he couldn\u2019t have anticipated when they were first written. <\/span><span>One track that now carries a completely different weight is <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/7m148vZDwJA?si=nP3Wige1FutEqEvp\"><em><span>Can It Be All So Simple<\/span><\/em><\/a><span>, a reflective highlight from the group\u2019s debut album. When it was first released, the song looked back nostalgically at childhood and early struggles. Today it feels more like something else. \u201cNow it\u2019s almost like a wish than a question,\u201d RZA says. \u201cLike \u2013 can it be simple?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>On this tour, the song has taken on an even deeper meaning. The group performs it as a tribute to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/tag\/ol-dirty-bastard\">Ol\u2019 Dirty Bastard<\/a>, one of Wu-Tang\u2019s most charismatic and unpredictable members, who passed away in 2004. \u201cWhen we use that song now, we don\u2019t even do the raps,\u201d RZA explains. \u201cWe just let the sample play.\u201d <\/span><span>He pauses again. \u201cTo be quite honest with you, I\u2019m not shy to share that, for almost three nights in a row, there\u2019s been tears backstage.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The emotional weight of the tour comes partly from a contradiction that sits at the heart of Wu-Tang mythology. One of the group\u2019s most famous declarations \u2013 repeated in songs, tattoos and graffiti tags for decades \u2013 is simple: Wu-Tang is forever. <\/span><span>So how does a farewell tour fit into that? \u201cWhen we say Wu-Tang is forever, we know that,\u201d RZA says. \u201cAnd then now we have a Final Chamber tour.\u201d He acknowledges the paradox openly. \u201cSo what do those two things mean together? Do they contradict each other?&#8230; I think they do&#8230; But I think in a way that only Wu can do.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"embed-content\" data-embed-type=\"raw-html\">\n<blockquote>\n<p><span>If Wu-Tang was able to inspire someone to laugh, to rebel, to accept something, to fight, or even just to let something go \u2013 that\u2019s a blessing<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"embed-content\" data-embed-type=\"raw-html\">\n<p><span>Part of what makes the tour so poignant is the absence of members who are no longer here. When the first leg of the tour travelled across North America last year, the spirit of Ol\u2019 Dirty Bastard was never far from the stage. \u201cThis journey started in America and ODB was almost at every date he could be at,\u201d RZA says. <\/span><span>Now, as the tour moves across Europe, that absence becomes even more tangible. \u201cOne of the founders of this journey will not be here,\u201d he reflects. \u201cAnd that makes this moment very unique.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>For British fans, the tour also marks the return of a group that has always shared a special relationship with the UK. Long before hip hop dominated global charts, Wu-Tang\u2019s music found passionate audiences in Britain and helped them maintain their record deal with Sony at the time. <\/span><span>\u201cThe UK welcomed us with open arms from the early days,\u201d RZA says. He remembers those early trips vividly: packed rooms, raw energy and crowds who seemed to understand the group\u2019s chaotic, cinematic sound immediately.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cI remember being in the clubs and feeling that energy in the UK,\u201d he says. \u201cAnd then eventually coming back to play bigger stages.\u201d Over time, the UK audience became an important part of Wu-Tang\u2019s global story. \u201cSeeing the fans continue to support us and grow with us has been amazing.\u201d At certain moments, that support even helped shape the group\u2019s trajectory. When the collective released their 2000 album <\/span><em><span>The W<\/span><\/em><span>, the response overseas helped keep the project alive commercially. <\/span><span>\u201cWhen we dropped that album, the UK sparked things,\u201d he says. \u201c\u2018<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/Of-lpfsBR8U?si=ZVcZFxs-5poVseAA\">Gravel Pit\u2019<\/a><span> was a big hit here.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The influence Wu-Tang Clan have had on hip-hop culture is difficult to measure. Their impact stretches far beyond music, touching fashion, film, philosophy and even the way artists structure their careers. <\/span><span>But when asked which newer artists carry something of the Wu-Tang spirit today, RZA mentions a group he discovered online: <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/NjRvXjSHze4?si=lV-n4Bcsaf3MDVB4\"><span>Coast Contra.<\/span><\/a><span> \u201cThey embody the hip-hop culture the way Wu did,\u201d he says. <\/span><span>What he recognises in them isn\u2019t just lyrical skill, but something deeper \u2013 the chemistry of a collective. \u201cThey\u2019ve got that brotherhood.\u201d That dynamic was central to Wu-Tang\u2019s own creative process.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<figure class=\"inline-img expandable dev-view-hide\" data-img=\"d9213026-5958-45b7-8eef-b40f00cf360d\" data-src=\"https:\/\/images-prod.dazeddigital.com\/2000\/azure\/dazed-prod\/1440\/1\/1441724.jpg\" data-img-aspect-ratio-type=\"landscape\" data-img-aspect-ratio=\"1.51\"><span class=\"has-css-custom-props image-container\" data-aspect-ratio-type=\"landscape\"><span class=\"preserve-aspect-ratio\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Wu-Tang Clan: The Final Chamber\" class=\"img\" height=\"1360\" src=\"https:\/\/images-prod.dazeddigital.com\/1600\/azure\/dazed-prod\/1440\/1\/1441724.jpg\" width=\"2048\"><\/span><\/span><figcaption class=\"img-caption\"><span class=\"credit\">Brooklyn Prewett<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<div class=\"embed-content\" data-embed-type=\"raw-html\">\n<p><span>But while fans often romanticise the group\u2019s unity, RZA says the reality was often more competitive. <\/span><span>\u201cWe were competitive against each other,\u201d he says.\u00a0 But that competition had a purpose. \u201cWe were competitive to help each other. We\u2019d tell you straight \u2013 \u2018that verse ain\u2019t working, bro\u2019.\u201d The aim was always to push each other higher. \u201cEach one of us wanted to make sure the other one was dope.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Behind Wu-Tang\u2019s music sits RZA\u2019s distinctive production style \u2013 a raw, cinematic sound built from soul samples, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=RZ67KyHX-cY\"><span>kung fu dialogue<\/span><\/a><span> and eerie piano lines. Asked what principles guided his work across decades of albums, his answer is simple. <\/span><span>\u201cOriginality.\u201d <\/span><span>He explains that he always tried to avoid repeating himself musically. \u201cWhen you go through my catalogue, even though it all sounds like me, it\u2019s very diverse,\u201d he says. He starts listing examples almost instinctively. <\/span><span>\u201c\u2018M-E-T-H-O-D Man\u2019 don\u2019t sound like \u2018<\/span>Tearz<span>\u2019<\/span><span>. And<em> \u2018<\/em><\/span>Liquid Swords<span>\u2019<\/span> don\u2019t sound like <span>\u2018<\/span>Ironman<span>\u2019<\/span><span>.\u201d <\/span><span>Yet despite the differences, the identity remains unmistakable. <\/span><span>\u201cIt\u2019s the same guy behind it.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Another creative principle he values is spontaneity. \u201cI like what I call spontaneous combustion,\u201d he says. \u201cLet the art flow freely.\u201d That mindset has led him into unexpected creative spaces over the years, from directing films to composing orchestral music and even working on ballet productions. <\/span><span>\u201cI did a whole ballet,\u201d he says with a laugh. \u201cAnd I was cool with doing that.\u201d For RZA, artistic growth is about constantly expanding what you\u2019re capable of. \u201cYou start off painting a piece of fruit,\u201d he says. \u201cThen eventually maybe you paint a whole chapter.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>When the conversation turns to legacy \u2013 a word that inevitably follows artists with careers as long and influential as Wu-Tang\u2019s \u2013 he seems less interested in defining it than in reflecting on what the group may have sparked in others. <\/span><span>Instead of trying to summarise the group\u2019s impact, he focuses on something simpler. \u201cI hope we were able to inspire.\u201d Inspiration, he explains, is something internal \u2013 the moment when something moves you to act. <\/span><span>\u201cIf Wu-Tang was able to inspire someone to laugh, to rebel, to accept something, to fight, or even just to let something go \u2013 that\u2019s a blessing.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"embed-content\" data-embed-type=\"raw-html\">\n<blockquote>\n<p><span>We were competitive to help each other. Hip hop shaped his worldview, but so did kung-fu films, which he famously skipped school to watch in New York cinemas. \u201cKung-fu movies inspired me to cut school and go sit in the theatre,\u201d he says. <\/span><span>Those movies became an informal education, shaping the philosophy and storytelling that later defined Wu-Tang\u2019s music. \u201cAnd if we were able to do that for somebody else,\u201d he says, \u201cthat\u2019s a blessing.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>In the end, though, the legacy he thinks about most isn\u2019t artistic at all. \u201cAs a father, I pray that I\u2019ve been a good father, a good husband, a good man,\u201d he says. \u201cSo that the people who came from me can walk with their head up and say, yeah, I come from a good batch.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>When Wu-Tang Clan step onto the stage at the O2 Arena in London this month, they\u2019ll be carrying more than 30 years of hip-hop history with them. But the atmosphere will likely feel less like an ending and more like a gathering; one final moment for a group and their audience to celebrate everything that came before. <\/span><span>\u201cThere\u2019s nostalgia,\u201d RZA says again. <\/span><span>\u201cAnd gratitude.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Wu-Tang may always insist they\u2019re forever.
