And the prize for ‘most out of the box proposal goes to’ \u2013 Metallica<\/strong>‘s James Hetfield<\/strong> as he proposed to his English girlfriend, Adriana<\/strong> Gillet<\/strong> underwater amidst a flurry of whale sharks. Posting a photo to both the Metallica<\/strong> Instagram and Gillet<\/strong>‘s personal account to mark the announcement, it showcases Hetfield<\/strong> holding up a piece of paper that asks, “Adriana<\/strong> Gillett<\/strong>, will you marry me?” with Gillet <\/strong>holding her thumbs up.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Metallica<\/strong>‘s caption was simple \u2013 “She said yes!” \u2013 but Gillet<\/strong> had a few words of her own in her post: “The best<\/em> birthday trip surprise. Swimming with whale sharks on Friday the 13th with the most unique, special, and romantic proposal a Pisces could ever imagine. In a sea full of fish, we caught each other. Thank you, God, for putting us together.”<\/p>\n

Gillet<\/strong> started her career in journalism as a correspondent for the UK’s The Times<\/em> where she covered socio-political issues such as the Syrian Civil War, Arab Spring, and more. Her bravery, skill and talent earned her the British Journalism Award for her work.\u00a0<\/p>\n

This will be Hetfield<\/strong>‘s second marriage, after he filed for divorce in 2022 from his ex-wife of 25 years, Francesca<\/strong> Tomasi<\/strong>. The divorce application cited irreconcilable differences as the cause despite Hetfield<\/strong> crediting Tomasi<\/strong> on several occasions for his improved anger management skills and maturity. Together, they have three children.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
