Montr\u00e9al developers are reporting that they have been laid off.<\/p>\n<p>While there&#8217;s been no formal confirmation of the cuts as yet, several former WB developers from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/ceri-young-3553222b\/\">across<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/camille-olivier-paquette-90606a63\/\">all<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/nicolas-pereira-poisson-b50513184\/\">disciplines<\/a> have announced on LinkedIn that they&#8217;re now looking for work. Most report they finished on Friday, 13th March.<\/p>\n<p>If true, it aligns with comments made by Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos, who recently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2026-03-01\/netflix-s-co-ceo-explains-why-he-quit-the-warner-bros-fight?embedded-checkout=true\">said<\/a> that the deal under which Paramount outbid his firm for control of Warner Bros, including its storied games division, would be &#8220;dependent on a lot of cost-cutting&#8221; (thanks, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gamesindustry.biz\/netflix-boss-says-paramount-acquisition-of-warner-bros-will-result-in-cuts-in-excess-of-16-billion-within-18-months-or-so\">GamesIndustry.biz<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>Warner Bros. has, of course, been struggling with its games industry for some time. In its 2025 Q1 earnings report, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eurogamer.net\/warner-bros-failed-to-launch-a-game-last-quarter-resulting-in-48-drop-in-gaming-revenue\">company reported a 48 percent decrease in games revenue due to no new releases<\/a>. This followed the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eurogamer.net\/warner-bros-games-cancels-major-game-expansion-as-financial-woes-continue\">cancellation of a planned expansion to Hogwarts Legacy<\/a>; layoffs at Rocksteady after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eurogamer.net\/suicide-squad-flopped-due-to-perfectionism-and-ill-suited-genre-pivot-report\">Suicide Squad flopped<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eurogamer.net\/warner-bros-reportedly-cancels-wonder-woman-closes-monolith-and-other-studios\">cancellation of Monolith Productions&#8217; Wonder Woman game<\/a>, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eurogamer.net\/multiversus-director-in-deep-mourning-following-last-weeks-shutdown-news\">shutdown of brawler Multiversus<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"injection_placeholder\" data-position=\"1\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>In its most recent earnings report, Warner Bros. Discovery said 2025 was a &#8220;significant&#8221; year, but made little mention of its gaming business beyond claims that it is &#8220;rebuilding&#8221; its video game pipeline following its acquisition by Paramount Skydance.
