I didn\u2019t really have one.<\/p>\n<p>Because <em>no one does<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s the same query I\u2019ve been posing to managers and sports directors for years.<\/p>\n<p>On paper, the formula sounds simple enough: outperform him physically, isolate him tactically, and pounce at the moment he finally cracks.<\/p>\n<p>But away from the sound bites, none of those factors looks to be lining up soon.<\/p>\n<p>Or at least they haven\u2019t since 2023.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, no one wants to admit defeat before the flag even drops. Milan-San Remo\u2019s toboggan run down the Poggio, the cobbled brutality of Flanders, and the chaos of Paris-Roubaix.<\/p>\n<p>Maybe three days. Unfortunately for his rivals, those three days are the ones he wants most.<\/p>\n<p>Everywhere else, the calculus is brutally simple. Remco Evenepoel might be going to the Tour this year, but that\u2019s part of a larger strategy to win <em>years down the road<\/em>, not in 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Rivals will never work together to chase him down, even if that might seem like the only sane thing to do. Pro racing is too divided\u00a0for that.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, I asked several managers how, in a sport as hyper-competitive and data-driven as cycling, one rider could dominate the peloton so completely.<\/p>\n<div class=\"ad-placeholder-wrapper relative w-full border-t border-b border-border-light col-span-full my-3 md:col-span-10 md:col-start-2\">\n<div class=\"mb-[30px] min-h-[30px] text-center\"><span class=\"font-utility-4 font-medium tracking-[1px] text-neutral-500 uppercase\">ADVERTISEMENT<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The answers varied, but all ended with the same shrug of the shoulders, followed by <em>booof<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>It was a feeling of acceptance, admiration, and a growing sense of futility that comes with repeatedly beating one\u2019s head against an unmovable force.<\/p>\n<p>Since hitting a new level in 2024, Poga\u010dar has turned races into something resembling a one-man demolition derby, and now he\u2019s backed by one of the deepest UAE squads ever assembled.<\/p>\n<p>Races keep drifting toward a cut-and-paste outcome.<\/p>\n<p>A peloton starts with hope, Poga\u010dar quickly crushes those dreams with a long-distance raid, and the tattered chasers race for pride and leftovers.<\/p>\n<p>Even the hyped new wave of young guns is learning the lesson.<\/p>\n<p>Paul Seixas discovered the hard way Saturday how Pog rules. He\u2019s part old-school guts and glory, layered onto today\u2019s cutting-edge technology.<\/p>\n<p>Just call him <em>RoboPog<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>And Pogi\u2019s engaging personality helps keep things fresh even as the lambs are led to slaughter.<\/p>\n<p>Pogi meets Eminem; what\u2019s not to love?<\/p>\n<p>These are the times cycling is living in. Accept your fate. Things will change (eventually).
