What you\u2019re looking at above is not<\/em> the new Alpine A110<\/a>. In fact, it is simply an artist\u2019s impression based on a guess that Renault\u2019s sporting brand won\u2019t stray too far from its current design language. Looks pretty neat though, right?<\/p>\n

Anyway, while we remain in the dark about the visuals, we do at least now have a bit more technical detail on the upcoming A110. And yes, it definitely will be electric.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

In fact, Alpine is developing a whole new platform for this EV sports car that it has inventively titled the \u2018Alpine Performance Platform\u2019 or APP for short. This aluminium architecture apparently \u201caddresses all the technical challenges around weight, design and electrification\u201d. We\u2019ll have to wait and see if that\u2019s true, but we do know Alpine is targeting a kerbweight of around 1,400kg for the coupe.<\/p>\n

We also now know that it\u2019ll feature two separate 800-volt battery packs in order to \u201crespect the 40:60 front to rear balance of a true sports car\u201d, and that it\u2019ll get two electric motors on the rear axle. Alpine has also confirmed a full aluminium suspension setup, and we\u2019re promised something called Alpine Active Torque Vectoring \u201cto ensure a true lightweight feel\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Inside you\u2019re looking at \u201ca Formula 1-inspired driving position\u201d (because all those years fighting for a single point each weekend need to mean something).<\/p>\n

Much like the previous A110, this new one will be built at Alpine\u2019s plant in Dieppe. However, unlike the previous \u2013 and quite brilliant \u2013 car, this one will be available in different body styles, the French carmaker now confirming that the APP platform will also underpin a spider and a 2+2 model \u201cin the coming years\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

It will be true to Alpine’s DNA and outperform the best of today\u2019s combustion sports cars, thanks to the Alpine Performance Platform,\u201d said Alpine boss Philippe Krief.<\/p>\n

\u201cBeyond this, by remaining agile and flexible, Alpine will be able to react in real time to market evolutions; our strategy is as adaptable as it is robust.\u201d<\/p>\n
