The new hardware was meant to arrive in the first quarter of this year, but this was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eurogamer.net\/valve-admits-its-steam-machine-and-steam-frame-will-be-delayed-due-to-ram-and-storage-price-surges\">&#8220;revisited&#8221; to the first half of the year<\/a> due to the &#8220;memory and storage shortages you&#8217;ve likely heard about&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Now, however, the company has stressed that while there have been &#8220;challenges&#8221; with memory and storage shortages, &#8220;we will be shipping all three products this year&#8221;, but this time did not suggest <em>when<\/em> that may be.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We shared recently that there have been challenges with memory and storage shortages, but we will be shipping all three products this year,&#8221; the company <a href=\"https:\/\/steamcommunity.com\/groups\/steamworks\/announcements\/detail\/528746884222682053\">said<\/a> as it shared its thoughts and learnings from 2025 in a blog update. &#8220;More updates will be shared as we finalise our plans.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The company also took this opportunity to reflect on what it had learned during its early expansion into hardware.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;When we first announced our plans to expand PC gaming into the living room [in 2013], developers struggled with Linux compatibility, Valve was still learning about building and shipping physical products, and VR was a distant dream,&#8221; Valve explained. &#8220;We couldn&#8217;t quite deliver the games library or user experience we were aiming at, even though players told us they were excited about playing PC games on the big screen.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"injection_placeholder\" data-position=\"1\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Fast forward to 2025, and we&#8217;ve solved a bunch of the hardest problems. The Proton compatibility layer brought thousands of excellent games to Linux and SteamOS at no cost to game developers.
