Whether you\u2019re part of the elite group of beauty lovers who keep up with their toes no matter the season \u2014 or tend to let things get a little wild in the winter \u2014 we all have one thing in common come spring<\/a>: An urge to decorate our toes in the trendiest polishes ahead of (and of course during) sandal season. And this year, there are many to choose from, including five particular standouts.<\/p>\n

The Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy<\/a> mania that struck mid-February (spurred by FX\/Hulu\u2019s Love Story<\/em>) is set to carry well into the spring, and it\u2019ll touch everything from head to toe. Quite literally: Not only are CBK-esque shades of blonde<\/a> trending, but so are \u201cCarolyn Bessette-Kennedy-coded\u201d \u201890s nail trends like French tips, per Sally Beauty nail expert Juli Russell<\/a>. \u201cThe \u201990s French pedicure is one of those looks that never really goes out of style,\u201d she says. \u201cIt feels really fresh for spring because it\u2019s clean, classic, and goes with every sandal.\u201d<\/p>\n

Also on the horizon: Itsy bitsy designs, specifically polka dots and stripes. \u201cI love this trend because it adds a little personality without being too much,\u201d says Russell. \u201cIt still feels really simple and wearable, but the small design detail makes the pedicure feel more fun and personalized.\u201d<\/p>\n

Soft & Sweet Pastels<\/h2>\n

There was one pedi polish trend all three experts agreed on: Pretty pastels. \u201cCandy colors are easier to wear on toes, especially if you want to have a more \u2018demure\u2019 look for work or just life,\u201d says Kandalec. She says baby blues are especially on-trend this season, like Gucci\u2019s Lucy Baby Blue and OPI\u2019s Baggy Jean Baby<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Russell recommends baby pink, a shade she says \u201cjust makes toes look instantly clean and put together. It\u2019s soft enough to feel neutral, but [still provides] that fresh pop of color, which is why people love it once sandal season starts,\u201d she says; it also works well on a variety of skin tones.<\/p>\n

Ornellas likes them all for the season \u2014 particularly \u201clight pink, blue, and green\u201d \u2014 and suggests topping them with Salon Perfect\u2019s Chrome Powder<\/a> \u201cfor a glazed look.\u201d Whatever shade you choose, Russell suggests starting with a ridge-smoothing base coat, like Nail Essentials by ASP\u2019s Fill ‘er up!<\/a>, since \u201csoft pastels tend to show nail texture.\u201d<\/p>\n
