<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/fashion\/article\/68818\/1\/mugler-ss26-paris-fashion-week-pfw-miguel-castro-freitas-designer-debut-showgirl\"><span>made his debut <\/span><\/a><span>as Mugler\u2019s new creative director. Like Beyonc\u00e9\u2019s ongoing album trilogy or <\/span><em><span>The Godfather <\/span><\/em><span>film franchise, the designer promised us a show of three parts, a blockbuster series called <\/span><em><span>A Trilogy of Glorified Clich\u00e9s<\/span><\/em><span>. His SS26 collection was <\/span><em><span>Part I: Stardust Aphrodite, <\/span><\/em><span>while today (March 6), we saw <\/span><em><span>Part II: The Commander<\/span><\/em><span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>As we know from the trilogy\u2019s title, Castro Freitas loves a good clich\u00e9 and is using each collection to unpack the various archetypes associated with Mugler. Last season, it was all about sparkle and showgirls (unveiled on the same day that Taylor Swift\u2019s <\/span><em><span>The Life of a Showgirl <\/span><\/em><span>was released to the world). Meanwhile, today\u2019s show was all about power dressing \u2013 a stereotype that he took to the extreme with full-on, no bullshit, eighties silhouettes. Nipped waistlines and enormous square shoulder pads. Here\u2019s what you missed\u2026\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h1><span>HE STAYED TRUE TO MUGLER\u2019S POLITICS<\/span><\/h1>\n<\/div>\n<figure class=\"inline-img expandable dev-view-hide\" data-img=\"b13c6bac-91ee-482e-a3e2-b405012304c9\" data-src=\"https:\/\/images-prod.dazeddigital.com\/2000\/azure\/dazed-prod\/1440\/0\/1440711.jpg\" data-img-aspect-ratio-type=\"portrait\" data-img-aspect-ratio=\"0.67\"><span class=\"has-css-custom-props image-container\" data-aspect-ratio-type=\"portrait\"><span class=\"preserve-aspect-ratio\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Mugler AW26\" class=\"img\" height=\"3000\" src=\"https:\/\/images-prod.dazeddigital.com\/786\/azure\/dazed-prod\/1440\/0\/1440711.jpg\" width=\"2000\"><\/span><\/span><figcaption class=\"img-caption\"><span class=\"credit\">Courtesy of Mugler<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<div class=\"embed-content\" data-embed-type=\"raw-html\">\n<p><span>We\u2019re beginning to see that this designer is not someone who makes decisions randomly or without reason. To fit last season\u2019s theatrical theme, the show was located at the former shop of Madame Rasimi, who, 100 years ago, was Paris\u2019 most successful costume designer and theatre director. Today\u2019s location also fits the theme. It was hosted at the Palais de la Porte Dor\u00e9e, which, more than just a landmark of Art Deco architecture, is home to the Mus\u00e9e de l\u2019Histoire de l\u2019Immigration. \u201cThe ideal environment to explore themes of domination, control, and reappropriated power,\u201d Castro Freitas explained.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Although it was conceived in 1989, the museum of immigration officially opened in 2007, with a mission to \u201ccontribute to the recognition of the integration of immigrants into French society and advance the views and attitudes on immigration in France\u201d, according to former French president Jacques Chirac. Historically, Thierry Mugler was one of the first fashion designers to champion diversity, tackling racism and ageism in his runway shows. Given the global politics of 2026, perhaps today\u2019s choice of location was a way for Castro Freitas to show solidarity with immigrants, as well as drawing global attention to the museum\u2019s existence. If she wasn\u2019t already, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/chappell-roan\">Chappell Roan<\/a> is now a certified fashion girly, cropping up at Acne Studios and Isabel Marant earlier this week, before getting up bright and early for this morning\u2019s Mugler show. Elsewhere, Naomi Watts made a rare appearance alongside Paris Jackson and Emma Chamberlain \u2013 who <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DVikqGuiuWd\/\"><span>chatted to Dazed<\/span><\/a><span> about painting, cooking and star signs. The most excited guest of all, however \u2013 and the guest we were most excited to see \u2013 was nightlife icon <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/fashion\/article\/69692\/1\/mugler-the-divine-david-hoyle-heated-rivalry-miguel-castro-freitas\"><span>David Hoyle<\/span><\/a><span>, who has recently featured in the brand\u2019s new digital series.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h1><span>FREEDOM IS THE HIGHEST FORM OF POWER\u00a0<\/span><\/h1>\n<\/div>\n<figure class=\"inline-img expandable dev-view-hide\" data-img=\"2a078345-133b-400a-9e6e-b4050122e514\" data-src=\"https:\/\/images-prod.dazeddigital.com\/2000\/azure\/dazed-prod\/1440\/0\/1440710.jpg\" data-img-aspect-ratio-type=\"portrait\" data-img-aspect-ratio=\"0.67\"><span class=\"has-css-custom-props image-container\" data-aspect-ratio-type=\"portrait\"><span class=\"preserve-aspect-ratio\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Mugler AW26\" class=\"img\" height=\"3000\" src=\"https:\/\/images-prod.dazeddigital.com\/786\/azure\/dazed-prod\/1440\/0\/1440710.jpg\" width=\"2000\"><\/span><\/span><figcaption class=\"img-caption\"><span class=\"credit\">Courtesy of Mugler<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<div class=\"embed-content\" data-embed-type=\"raw-html\">\n<p><span>Power remained the running theme throughout the show, harking back to Thierry Mugler\u2019s military-inspired collections of the 80s \u2013 specifically, <\/span><em><span>Les Militaires<\/span><\/em><span> of AW86\/87 and <\/span><em><span>Les Secr\u00e9taires <\/span><\/em><span>of AW82. \u201cUltimately, this show intends to acknowledge that self-empowerment is the most potent antidote of clarity to the oppressive forces and grey political climate that surrounds us at this very moment,\u201d said Castro Freitas. Like Beyonc\u00e9\u2019s ongoing album trilogy or <\/span><em><span>The Godfather <\/span><\/em><span>film franchise, the designer promised us a show of three parts, a blockbuster series called <\/span><em><span>A Trilogy of Glorified Clich\u00e9s<\/span><\/em><span>. His SS26 collection was <\/span><em><span>Part I: Stardust Aphrodite, <\/span><\/em><span>while today (March 6), we saw <\/span><em><span>Part II: The Commander<\/span><\/em><span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>As we know from the trilogy\u2019s title, Castro Freitas loves a good clich\u00e9 and is using each collection to unpack the various archetypes associated with Mugler. Last season, it was all about sparkle and showgirls (unveiled on the same day that Taylor Swift\u2019s <\/span><em><span>The Life of a Showgirl <\/span><\/em><span>was released to the world). Meanwhile, today\u2019s show was all about power dressing \u2013 a stereotype that he took to the extreme with full-on, no bullshit, eighties silhouettes. Nipped waistlines and enormous square shoulder pads. To fit last season\u2019s theatrical theme, the show was located at the former shop of Madame Rasimi, who, 100 years ago, was Paris\u2019 most successful costume designer and theatre director. Today\u2019s location also fits the theme. It was hosted at the Palais de la Porte Dor\u00e9e, which, more than just a landmark of Art Deco architecture, is home to the Mus\u00e9e de l\u2019Histoire de l\u2019Immigration. \u201cThe ideal environment to explore themes of domination, control, and reappropriated power,\u201d Castro Freitas explained.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Although it was conceived in 1989, the museum of immigration officially opened in 2007, with a mission to \u201ccontribute to the recognition of the integration of immigrants into French society and advance the views and attitudes on immigration in France\u201d, according to former French president Jacques Chirac. Historically, Thierry Mugler was one of the first fashion designers to champion diversity, tackling racism and ageism in his runway shows. Given the global politics of 2026, perhaps today\u2019s choice of location was a way for Castro Freitas to show solidarity with immigrants, as well as drawing global attention to the museum\u2019s existence. Elsewhere, Naomi Watts made a rare appearance alongside Paris Jackson and Emma Chamberlain \u2013 who <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DVikqGuiuWd\/\"><span>chatted to Dazed<\/span><\/a><span> about painting, cooking and star signs.
