As a reminder, Evil Empire also worked on the impressive <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eurogamer.net\/games\/the-rogue-prince-of-persia\">Rogue Prince of Persia<\/a>, which will <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eurogamer.net\/the-rogue-prince-of-persia-spring-2026-roadmap\">continue to get content updates<\/a> this year.<\/p>\n<p>Little is known about Castlevania: Belmont&#8217;s Curse beyond what <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=3k9Yy-o6tpo\">its first stunning trailer<\/a> revealed, and the fact it&#8217;s coming to PC via Steam, PS5, Xbox Series X\/S and Nintendo Switch (with a native <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eurogamer.net\/platforms\/switch-2\">Switch 2<\/a> version unconfirmed for now) in 2026. Now, Konami&#8217;s head of comms Tommy Williams has confirmed Belmont&#8217;s Curse <em>won&#8217;t<\/em> be a roguelite even if it&#8217;s coming from veteran indie studios known for roguelite hits.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/games\/888791\/confirmed-the-new-castlevania-game-isnt-a-roguelike\">The Verge<\/a> got the comment from Williams on 4th March (hat tip to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gamespot.com\/articles\/castlevania-belmonts-curse-is-less-dead-cells-more-classic-castlevania-dev-says\/1100-6538575\/\">GameSpot<\/a>), who described Belmont&#8217;s Curse as &#8220;a 2D action-exploration game where players can freely explore vast, elaborately crafted maps&#8221;. Fans weren&#8217;t exactly sure about this new Castlevania&#8217;s nature, but Williams made it quite clear: &#8220;It is not a roguelike or roguelite game.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Why Konami didn&#8217;t come out and say Castlevania: Belmont&#8217;s Curse isn&#8217;t a roguelite straight away remains a mystery, but it&#8217;s nice to have confirmation diehards will be eating a complete, traditional 2D meal later this year.
