{"id":1806225,"date":"2026-03-04T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2026-03-03T21:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/analyse.optim.biz\/?p=1806225"},"modified":"2026-03-04T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2026-03-03T21:00:00","slug":"jeremy-clarkson-wants-to-buy-a-lexus-lfa-oh-my-god-this-is-just-absolute-joy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/analyse.optim.biz\/?p=1806225","title":{"rendered":"Jeremy Clarkson wants to buy a Lexus LFA: \u2018oh my god this is just absolute joy\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<div data-testid=\"HtmlContent\" class=\"MarkUpWrapper-sc-t20i90-0 hQwWlJ\">\n<p>\u201cAn LFA still lives in my head as a car I\u2019d love to own,\u201d said Jeremy Clarkson. \u201cThey\u2019re just pre \u2018peak car\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to the Autocar podcast, the former <em>Top Gear <\/em>and <em>The Grand Tour<\/em> presenter admitted that if he could buy anything today, he\u2019d quite like a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.topgear.com\/car-reviews\/lamborghini\/revuelto\" data-entity-type=\"external\">Lamborghini Revuelto<\/a> \u2013 \u201castounding, so unbelievably exciting, what a Lamborghini should be\u201d \u2013 and a V10 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.topgear.com\/car-news\/jeremy-clarkson\/jeremy-lexus-lfa\" data-entity-type=\"external\">Lexus LFA<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div data-testid=\"HtmlContent\" class=\"MarkUpWrapper-sc-t20i90-0 hQwWlJ\">\n<p>Despite not being able to put the seat belt on, or that he thinks it\u2019d be more practical to have an EV because it\u2019s got a \u201czippo lighter for a fuel tank\u201d, he still covets Lexus\u2019s limited edition 5.0-litre Noughties supercar because \u201cit\u2019s the sound it makes\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.topgear.com\/sites\/default\/files\/inline-images\/LFA%20CLARKSON3.jpg\" data-entity-uuid=\"229e9afd-da7d-4403-93e2-acf6c6f6260b\" data-entity-type=\"file\" alt=\"JEREMY CLARKSON LEXUS LFA\" width=\"3000\" height=\"1688\"><\/p>\n<p>A sound created by an internal combustion engine that \u2013 according to Clarkson \u2013 is the \u2018soul\u2019 of a car.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div data-testid=\"HtmlContent\" class=\"MarkUpWrapper-sc-t20i90-0 hQwWlJ\">\n<p>\u201cWhen the LFA came out, the reviews were kind of\u2026 nobody got excited by it. And then I drove it, and I was priapic. The sound [was like] a \u2018wounded bear\u2019 is how I described it, a wailing noise. Also, it had that dashboard you could move around which was unusual in those days.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI thought \u2018oh my god this is just absolute joy\u2019. And I got the loveliest, loveliest letter from the guy [who engineered it], who said \u2018nobody really got my car until you came along\u2019. So he was thrilled. He sent me a book on it. The world\u2019s most boring book, [but] very detailed!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div data-testid=\"HtmlContent\" class=\"MarkUpWrapper-sc-t20i90-0 hQwWlJ\">\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s a car I still treasure,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>His views on electric cars are well documented, of course. \u201cI\u2019m never having one,\u201d he added. \u201cI don\u2019t understand them, and I don\u2019t like the driving characteristics. I think if you take a car\u2019s engine away, you\u2019ve taken away its soul. And you can\u2019t love something that has no soul. What else gives a car its soul? It\u2019s its engine.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t understand how engines work, really. I love it when I find a good one because it\u2019s like witchcraft.
