Report from March 1, 2026<\/em><\/p>\n

March arrived in style at Big White (Kelowna, BC)<\/a>, delivering expansive terrain, consistent coverage, and a full mountain experience from top to bottom.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Every single one of the resort\u2019s 116 runs<\/a> was open<\/strong>, and<\/strong> all 16 lifts were spinning<\/strong>. In early March, that\u2019s a big deal. Arriving at a mountain firing on all cylinders\u2014with no closures shrinking the map, is a decadent experience during this trying winter. Big White provided wide-open freedom across five alpine bowls and perfectly spaced glades.<\/p>\n

Coverage remains strong, with a reported 157 cm (over five feet) settled base.<\/strong> That depth keeps Big White skiing like winter even as spring approaches during a low snow year. On the slopes, natural features are filled in, tree runs are supported, and groomers give you a confidence underfoot, inviting you to open it up. With a bit of fresh snow, an enormous amount of terrain will be unlocked.<\/p>\n

Sunday delivered one of those quintessential early spring days: supportive morning snow that held an edge, followed by a gradual softening through the afternoon.<\/strong> This produced a morning of long, high-speed groomer laps followed by more playful, surfy turns later in the day.<\/p>\n

Visibility stayed cooperative for most of the day, with calm winds helping preserve the alpine.<\/strong> When Big White\u2019s upper mountain is clear, the scale of the terrain really stands out: broad faces, rolling transitions, and sightlines that stretch deep into British Columbia\u2019s interior ranges. Having skied a week or so at Big White in total, I have never enjoyed a day there with such good visibility.<\/p>\n

On a full-coverage day like this at Big White, we get to enjoy the variety.<\/strong> You could spend the morning carving corduroy off Ridge Rocket, dip into gladed stashes off Powder Chair, cruise long fall-line laps under Snow Ghost Express, and still feel like you barely scratched the surface. If you fancy a go at the park, the TELUS Park Chair<\/a> (established 2004) provides pathways to improve your technical or big air maneuvers. While riding that chair, we were treated to some impressive sends by locals.<\/p>\n

March is where this mountain often shines\u2014strong base, longer daylight, and terrain that skis big from first chair to last lap.<\/strong> If Sunday was any indication, the season is far from winding down. Big White is currently operating at full strength and feeling every bit like a mid-season mountain\u2014 just with better apr\u00e8s light.<\/p>\n
