sport itself but also to the results. <\/strong>To the viewer, some results seemed obvious, while others left them scratching their heads. Sadowski-Synott\u2019s run included a switch backside 900 (three and a half rotations) and two 1080s (three rotations), landing her in second place with a score of 87.48.<\/p>\n<p><strong>This is where the controversy began.\u00a0<\/strong>At face value, Sadowski-Synott\u2019s run featured two larger spins, while Fukada\u2019s run featured one. This led many to question why Fukada run outscored Sadowski-Synott\u2019s. People wanted the judges to answer, and they did.<\/p>\n<p><strong>In an interview conducted by <em><a href=\"https:\/\/whitelines.com\/snowboard-culture\/scene\/interviews\/the-verdict-the-olympic-snowboard-judges-on-the-womens-slopestyle-controversy-and-more-in-their-own-words.html\">Whitelines Magazine<\/a><\/em>, judges Gaz Vogen and Adam Begg explained the scores that the riders were given and what judges are looking for in competition.\u00a0<\/strong>In the interview, Vogen emphasized Fukada\u2019s execution, while Begg explained what the judges wanted to see.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cThe key point with Mari\u2019s run was it was absolutely flawless execution,\u201d Vogen said in the interview.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Begg explained that judges wanted to see riders spinning in all directions. <\/strong>In snowboarding, riders can spin in four different directions: frontside, backside, switch frontside, and switch backside.
