Profound Lore Records has unveiled On The Promise Of The Moon<\/em>, the second full-length from Reeking Aura<\/strong>, a collective formed by current and former members of Grey Skies Fallen<\/strong>, Buckshot Facelift<\/strong>, Th\u00e6tas<\/strong>, Afterbirth<\/strong>, Trog<\/strong>, Artificial Brain<\/strong>, and others.<\/p>\n Although its members are seasoned veterans of the New York City\/New Jersey underground, Reeking Aura<\/strong> is far from a side project. Their sound blends immersive atmospheres, technical precision, and infectious melodies atop a foundation of East Coast brutal death metal.<\/p>\n The lineup for On The Promise Of The Moon<\/em> features returning members guitarists Terrell Grannum<\/strong> (Th\u00e6tas<\/strong>) and Rick Habeeb<\/strong> (Grey Skies Fallen<\/strong>, Buckshot Facelift<\/strong>), along with vocalist William Smith<\/strong> (Afterbirth<\/strong>, Buckshot Facelift<\/strong>, ex-Artificial Brain<\/strong>). New additions drummer Hudson Barth<\/strong> (Trog<\/strong>) and bassist TJ Coon<\/strong> (Trog<\/strong>, Sentient Horror<\/strong>) contribute to the writing process, giving the record fresh energy while maintaining the band’s signature intensity.<\/p>\n Tracked at OK Recording Studios in Kinderhook, New York, the album was mixed and mastered by Dan Swan\u00f6<\/strong> (Bloodbath<\/strong>, Edge Of Sanity<\/strong>, Grey Skies Fallen<\/strong>) and features cover art by Moldovan painter Ion Carchelan<\/strong>. Guest appearances include vocalists Eston Browne<\/strong> (Vulnificus<\/strong>) and Jon Berg<\/strong> (The Path<\/strong>), with string arrangements by Ben Karas<\/strong> (Slaughtersun<\/strong>), adding layers of dark, melodic atmosphere.<\/p>\n On the lead single “What Only Worms Witness”, Smith<\/strong> explains: “Lyrically, ‘What Only Worms Witness’ is a contrasting depiction of both the ugliness of physical death and the melancholy optimism of enduring legacy.<\/p>\n “Like many songs on the album, it reflects on grudges, the passing of time and paying homage to the deceased.
