Well, cycling fans might one day be reminding each other that Johannes H\u00f8sflot Klaebo was once a record-breaking cross-country skier.<\/p>\n
At least, that\u2019s if Uno-X Mobility gets its way.<\/p>\n
Uno-X team boss Thor Hushovd revealed to Velo<\/em> that he\u2019s been courting the Norwegian GOAT who just became the first athlete to win six gold medals in one Winter Olympic Games.<\/p>\n \u201cI told Klaebo last year that once the Olympics were over, he should consider testing a few sessions with the Uno X team,\u201d Hushovd told Velo<\/em>.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve ridden with him, and it\u2019s obvious he\u2019s a natural cycling talent,\u201d Hushovd said Monday. \u201cHe sits beautifully on the bike, has great control, and adapts quickly.\u201d<\/p>\n It\u2019s no surprise that Hushovd is trying to reel in ski king Klaebo.<\/p>\n The 29-year-old just swept six wins at the Milano-Cortina Games to break the record for most gold medals in one winter. He crushed the opposition for two weeks without loss, whether in 3-minute sprints or two-hour, 50km sufferfests.<\/p>\n It was a level of dominance that Mr. Poga\u010dar can only aspire to.<\/p>\n Klaebo blew up social media too \u2013 this footage of his insane 18kph uphill skiing sprint was the viral sensation of the Games.<\/p>\n J.H. His team is already packed out with strapping Scandis who use cross country skiing as a winter training tool that can push VO2 Max beyond the North Pole.<\/p>\n And the network is already there.<\/p>\n Klaebo has a personal agreement with the Uno-X parent company, and the cycling team has been welcoming him on training jaunts for years. He reportedly tagged along for the team\u2019s recon rides before the 2025 Tour of Flanders and took a VIP seat in the director\u2019s car during the Tour de France.<\/p>\n Klaebo even suggested \u2013 or maybe joked \u2013 last spring that cycling could be in his future.<\/p>\n \u201cFirst I need to do the [2026] Olympics, and then we\u2019ll see,\u201d he said. \u201cAfter the Olympics I\u2019ll start thinking about what I\u2019ll do next, so maybe joining the Uno-X team should be the next goal.\u201d<\/p>\n Many Norwegian athletes switch between skiing and cycling depending on the season, or permanently transition between the two. Visma-Lease a Bike\u2019s 21-year-old phenom J\u00f8rgen Nordhagen was a junior XC ski world champion before he switched to a different type of cleats.<\/p>\n Hushovd told Velo<\/em> he\u2019s not overly optimistic that \u201cKing Klaebo\u201d will permanently pack up his skis in the way that Nordhagen did.
