href=\"https:\/\/snowbrains.com\/category\/avalanche-2\/\">avalanche<\/a> in the Snake Creek area west of Midway, <a href=\"https:\/\/snowbrains.com\/?s=utah\">Utah<\/a>, according to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/wasatchcountysheriffsoffice\/posts\/pfbid0sXHQ4NbwSYVB4dh2nYdeiP7UE9gUGh3mF86RVXWygt1Y4HMDMsFtXeMD466WXrY2l\">press release<\/a> from the <em>Wasatch County Sheriff\u2019s Office<\/em>.<\/strong> One adult male snowmobiler was reported buried in the avalanche. Search operations are expected to continue today, February 23. Avalanche danger can change rapidly, and recent storm cycles have created hazardous conditions in many areas of the Wasatch Mountains.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The <a href=\"https:\/\/utahavalanchecenter.org\/forecast\/provo\"><em>Utah Avalanche Center<\/em><\/a> rated the avalanche danger as \u2018considerable\u2019 yesterday, warning,<\/strong> \u201c\u2026today is NOT the day to be in steep avalanche terrain. That means staying off of\u2014and out from under\u2014slopes steeper than 30 degrees. Large, destructive, and potentially deadly slab avalanches are likely. Blue skies and fresh powder can make it feel like a perfect day, but when those line up with dangerous avalanche conditions and busy backcountry traffic, that\u2019s often when we see serious accidents. Choose low-angle terrain. Spread out. Speak up within your group.
