In 2023, she toured it. In 2024, she dropped Act II: <\/span><em><span>Cowboy Carter.<\/span><\/em><span> In 2025, she toured it. If this is the pattern she&#8217;s sticking to for her third and final act, then in 2026 we can expect the next album, followed by a tour in 2027.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>With each album in the trilogy, Beyonc\u00e9 is paying homage to the Black origins of different genres \u2013 she did it first with <\/span><em><span>Renaissance<\/span><\/em><span> and dance music, followed by\u00a0<\/span><em><span>Cowboy Carter<\/span><\/em><span> and country music. For Act III, it\u2019s widely speculated that the 44-year-old singer will turn to rock and roll, which was born in the US in the early 1950s, stemming from 1940s rhythm and blues (R&amp;B).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>There have, of course, been other theories: some people think Act III could be a Destiny\u2019s Child reunion album (especially after Kelly and Michelle made a surprise appearance at the last stop on her <\/span><em><span>Cowboy Carter World Tour<\/span><\/em><span>); others think it might be R&amp;B, and earlier this week, Bey\u2019s support for <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/music\/article\/69588\/1\/together-we-are-america-unpacking-bad-bunny-super-bowl-performance-2026\"><span>Bad Bunny<\/span><\/a><span> at the Super Bowl even promoted reggaeton rumours.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Of all the theories swirling around, my least favourite is that whatever Beyonc\u00e9 releases next will be her last album, followed by a farewell tour. If there is any truth to this, I\u2019m quite happy for her to prolong Act III for as long as possible. <span>As for what it might sound like, so far, the most solid evidence points to rock, potentially dropping towards the end of May. Allow me to explain&#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"embed-content\" data-embed-type=\"raw-html\">\n<h1><span>BEYONC\u00c9 IS A HUGE TINA TURNER FAN<\/span><\/h1>\n<\/div>\n<figure class=\"inline-img expandable dev-view-hide\" data-img=\"d16eb933-b30f-429b-a589-b3f600e00286\" data-src=\"https:\/\/images-prod.dazeddigital.com\/2000\/azure\/dazed-prod\/1430\/8\/1438044.jpg\" data-img-aspect-ratio-type=\"landscape\" data-img-aspect-ratio=\"1.32\"><span class=\"has-css-custom-props image-container\" data-aspect-ratio-type=\"landscape\"><span class=\"preserve-aspect-ratio\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Beyonc&#233; and Tina Turner perform together \" class=\"img\" height=\"2266\" src=\"https:\/\/images-prod.dazeddigital.com\/786\/azure\/dazed-prod\/1430\/8\/1438044.jpg\" width=\"3000\"><\/span><\/span><figcaption class=\"img-caption\"><span class=\"caption\">Beyonc\u00e9 and Tina Turner perform together at the <span class=\"nowrap\">2008 Grammys<\/span><\/span><span class=\"credit\">Photo by Kevin <span class=\"nowrap\">Winter\/Getty Images<\/span><\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<div class=\"embed-content\" data-embed-type=\"raw-html\">\n<p><span>Beyonc\u00e9 has long cited Tina Turner, the queen of rock and roll, as one of her greatest inspirations. The pair performed \u201cProud Mary\u201d together at the Grammys\u2019 50th anniversary in 2008, which Beyonc\u00e9 described as \u201cliterally a dream\u201d. When Turner died in May 2023, Beyonc\u00e9 was in London on the<\/span><em><span> Renaissance World Tour<\/span><\/em><span> and paid tribute to her idol on stage, telling the crowd: \u201cIf you\u2019re a fan of mine, you\u2019re a fan of Tina Turner, \u2019cause I wouldn\u2019t be on this stage without Tina Turner.\u201d She continued to reference Turner during the\u00a0<\/span><em><span>Cowboy Carter World Tour, <\/span><\/em><span>wearing her own versions of Turner\u2019s iconic outfits and even a t-shirt bearing the singer&#8217;s face.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>To dig a little deeper, Tina Turner released her most successful album, <em>Private Dancer, <\/em>on May 29, 1984. She was 44 years old, which is the same age Beyonc\u00e9 is now. Four is famously Beyonc\u00e9\u2019s lucky number \u2013 there\u2019s her album <em>4, <\/em>her birthday September 4, Jay-Z\u2019s birthday December 4, her daughter\u2019s name Blue Ivy (like IV, the roman numeral for four)&#8230; I could go on. The date of May 29 is also significant because the previous two albums in the trilogy both came out on the 29th day of the month \u2013 <em>Renaissance<\/em>\u00a0on July 29 and <em>Cowboy Carter <\/em>on March 29.\u00a0What\u2019s more, it was announced last year that Beyonc\u00e9 is due to co-host this year\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/met-ball\">Met Gala<\/a>, which takes place on May 4 \u2013 timed perfectly for album promo, though I predict it will have already been announced and we\u2019ll already have a single (or two) before then.<\/p>\n<h1><span>SHE SENT GIFTS TO JACK WHITE &amp; TOM MORELLO\u00a0 <\/span><\/h1>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"instagram-container embed-content\" data-embed-type=\"media-instagram\" data-script-depends=\"instagram-embeds\">\n<script async src=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/embed.js\"><\/script><\/div>\n<div class=\"embed-content\" data-embed-type=\"raw-html\">\n<p><span>In 2024, Jack White of rock duo The White Stripes took to Instagram to thank Beyonc\u00e9 for sending him a large bouquet. The accompanying note read: \u201cJack, I just wanted you to know how much you inspired me on this record. Sending you my love, Beyonc\u00e9.\u201d Given the timing, it\u2019s most likely that she was talking about <\/span><em><span>Cowboy Carter, <\/span><\/em><span>but what if she wasn\u2019t? The last time Beyonc\u00e9 and Jack White worked together was on \u201cDon\u2019t Hurt Yourself\u201d, a single from <\/span><em><span>Lemonade, <\/span><\/em><span>which is arguably the most rock-sounding Beyonc\u00e9 track to date. What if she was thanking White for inspiring an album not yet announced\u2026?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Also in 2024, Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tom Morello posted a picture of his mother, activist Mary Morello, holding a signed copy of the <\/span><em><span>Renaissance<\/span><\/em><span> vinyl. Bey had sent the record to Mary to celebrate her 101st birthday, but maybe it\u2019s a hint of a Rage Against The Machine collab to come.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h1><span>SYSTEM OF A DOWN ATTENDED HER TOUR\u00a0<\/span><\/h1>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"embed-content\" data-embed-type=\"media-tiktok\" data-id=\"7531931632308145430\">\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"embed-content\" data-embed-type=\"raw-html\">\n<p><span>In July last year, Serj Tankian, lead vocalist of heavy metal group System of a Down, was photographed attending<\/span><em><span> The Cowboy Carter World Tour. <\/span><\/em><span>Bey even posted the images on her website. Was this simply a random night out for Tankian? Or could Act III go full heavy metal? We already know she\u2019s a Slayer fan \u2013 she posted a photo wearing the band\u2019s merch in 2016.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h1><span>WAS THAT SISTER ROSETTA THARPE\u2019S GUITAR?\u00a0<\/span><\/h1>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"instagram-container embed-content\" data-embed-type=\"media-instagram\" data-script-depends=\"instagram-embeds\">\n<script async src=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/embed.js\"><\/script><\/div>\n<div class=\"embed-content\" data-embed-type=\"raw-html\">\n<p><span>Rock and roll was created by Black artists, even though they only make up 35 per cent of the musicians currently listed in the Rock &amp; Roll Hall of Fame (which makes the genre prime material for\u00a0Beyonc\u00e9\u2019s ongoing project of reclamation). The likes of Chuck Berry, Little Richard and Fats Domino were among the early pioneers, alongside Sister Rosetta Tharpe, who is dubbed the godmother of rock and roll.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Last weekend, Beyonc\u00e9\u2019s mother, Tina Knowles, shared a video of Sister Rosetta Tharpe performing \u201cDidn\u2019t It Rain\u201d in 1964. To the side of the video, we see an image of Tharpe holding her National Triolian nickel-plated steel guitar, which she played during the late 1930s and early 1940s. As spotted by Beyhive sleuth @lorebreakers, Bey was pictured carrying a similar style of guitar during her <\/span><em><span>Cowboy Carter <\/span><\/em><span>tour promo last year.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h1><span>BLACKBETTY.COM\u00a0<\/span><\/h1>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"instagram-container embed-content\" data-embed-type=\"media-instagram\" data-script-depends=\"instagram-embeds\">\n<script async src=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/embed.js\"><\/script><\/div>\n<div class=\"embed-content\" data-embed-type=\"raw-html\">\n<p><span>Up until recently, if you Googled blackbetty.com, you\u2019d be automatically redirected to beyonce.com (I know, having tested it many times). Now, you\u2019ll discover that the domain is for sale \u2013 meaning either we were on to something, or there\u2019s been a name change. It\u2019s been widely speculated that Act III would be called <\/span><em><span>Black Betty<\/span><\/em><span>, a reference that goes deeper than Ram Jam\u2019s 1977 hit of the same name.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cBlack Betty\u201d is thought to have originated as a 1939 work song by blues singer Lead Belly, although some sources believe it dates back even earlier. The term \u201cBlack Betty\u201d can refer to multiple things: a bottle of whiskey, a whip, a musket, a prison transfer wagon, or, more recently, motorcycles and fast cars (remember when Beyonc\u00e9 attended the Las Vegas Grand Prix last year?).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>It\u2019s no secret that Beyonc\u00e9 loves an alias \u2013 we\u2019ve had Sasha Fierce, Cowboy Carter, Miss Honey Bee, Yonc\u00e9 \u2013 could Black Betty be her next?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h1><span>THAT VALENTINE\u2019S DAY MERCH DROP <\/span><\/h1>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"instagram-container embed-content\" data-embed-type=\"media-instagram\" data-script-depends=\"instagram-embeds\">\n<script async src=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/embed.js\"><\/script><\/div>\n<div class=\"embed-content\" data-embed-type=\"raw-html\">\n<p><span>Just like when we heard \u201cRocket\u201d for the first time or watched the \u201cPartition\u201d music video, the Beyhive blushed again last week when Beyonc\u00e9 dropped a Valentine\u2019s collection featuring nipple tassels and faux-leather chokers. The \u201cBodyguard choker\u201d, as it\u2019s called, came with the tagline: \u201cA little rock n roll with a whole lotta sexy\u201d. Make of that what you will.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h1><span>THE LEVI\u2019S AD\u00a0<\/span><\/h1>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"src-youtube video-container embed-content\" data-embed-type=\"media-youtube\" data-id=\"rCi-xr0ZxaE\"><span class=\"preserve-aspect-ratio\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" allowfullscreen frameborder height=\"422\" scrolling=\"no\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/rCi-xr0ZxaE\" webkitallowfullscreen width=\"750\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"embed-content\" data-embed-type=\"raw-html\">\n<p><span>After a year-long campaign with <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/levis\"><span>Levi\u2019s<\/span><\/a><span>, Beyonc\u00e9\u2019s fourth and final ad for the brand got the Beyhive buzzing. In the advert, which is titled \u201cThe Denim Cowboy\u201d, she arrives riding a white horse (like the <\/span><em><span>Cowboy Carter <\/span><\/em><span>album cover), but leaves on a white motorcycle. Not only are motorbikes deeply entwined with rock music (just look at Prince\u2019s <\/span><em><span>Purple Rain <\/span><\/em><span>album cover), but \u201cBlack Betty\u201d is also a popular name for them.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Meanwhile, we have to credit her 2022 <\/span><em><span>British Vogue<\/span><\/em><span> cover shoot. Beyonc\u00e9 has previously said that <\/span><em><span>Cowboy Carter<\/span><\/em><span> was originally meant to come out before <\/span><em><span>Renaissance<\/span><\/em><span>, meaning <\/span><em><span>Cowboy Carter <\/span><\/em><span>would\u2019ve been Act I and <\/span><em><span>Renaissance <\/span><\/em><span>would\u2019ve been Act II. But post-pandemic, she decided the world deserved to dance and swapped the order. For <\/span><em><span>British Vogue, <\/span><\/em><span>she appeared on the cover riding a white horse (<\/span><em><span>Cowboy Carter<\/span><\/em><span>), followed by an image of her sitting on a disco ball (<\/span><em><span>Renaissance), <\/span><\/em><span>followed by a final image of her dressed all in leather, riding a motorbike (Act III). Was she telling us all three genres back in 2022?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h1><span>SHE ALWAYS WANTED TO BE A ROCKSTAR\u00a0<\/span><\/h1>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"src-youtube video-container embed-content\" data-embed-type=\"media-youtube\" data-id=\"1zCEp8ItJpM\"><span class=\"preserve-aspect-ratio\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" allowfullscreen frameborder height=\"422\" scrolling=\"no\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/1zCEp8ItJpM\" webkitallowfullscreen width=\"750\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"embed-content\" data-embed-type=\"raw-html\">\n<p><span>15 years ago, in 2011, Beyonc\u00e9 became the first Black female solo artist to headline Glastonbury festival. \u201cI want you to know, right now, you are witnessing my dream,\u201d she told the crowd, \u201cI always wanted to be a rockstar\u201d. If our calculations are correct, Bey will be touring Act III in 2027, when Glastonbury makes its grand return following a fallow year. If this trilogy <\/span><em><span>has<\/span><\/em><span> been building up to her retirement, then what better way to go out than by headlining Glastonbury in 2027? In 2023, she toured it. In 2024, she dropped Act II: <\/span><em><span>Cowboy Carter.<\/span><\/em><span> In 2025, she toured it. If this is the pattern she&#8217;s sticking to for her third and final act, then in 2026 we can expect the next album, followed by a tour in 2027.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>With each album in the trilogy, Beyonc\u00e9 is paying homage to the Black origins of different genres \u2013 she did it first with <\/span><em><span>Renaissance<\/span><\/em><span> and dance music, followed by\u00a0<\/span><em><span>Cowboy Carter<\/span><\/em><span> and country music. For Act III, it\u2019s widely speculated that the 44-year-old singer will turn to rock and roll, which was born in the US in the early 1950s, stemming from 1940s rhythm and blues (R&amp;B).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>There have, of course, been other theories: some people think Act III could be a Destiny\u2019s Child reunion album (especially after Kelly and Michelle made a surprise appearance at the last stop on her <\/span><em><span>Cowboy Carter World Tour<\/span><\/em><span>); others think it might be R&amp;B, and earlier this week, Bey\u2019s support for <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/music\/article\/69588\/1\/together-we-are-america-unpacking-bad-bunny-super-bowl-performance-2026\"><span>Bad Bunny<\/span><\/a><span> at the Super Bowl even promoted reggaeton rumours.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Of all the theories swirling around, my least favourite is that whatever Beyonc\u00e9 releases next will be her last album, followed by a farewell tour. If there is any truth to this, I\u2019m quite happy for her to prolong Act III for as long as possible. <span>As for what it might sound like, so far, the most solid evidence points to rock, potentially dropping towards the end of May. The pair performed \u201cProud Mary\u201d together at the Grammys\u2019 50th anniversary in 2008, which Beyonc\u00e9 described as \u201cliterally a dream\u201d. When Turner died in May 2023, Beyonc\u00e9 was in London on the<\/span><em><span> Renaissance World Tour<\/span><\/em><span> and paid tribute to her idol on stage, telling the crowd: \u201cIf you\u2019re a fan of mine, you\u2019re a fan of Tina Turner, \u2019cause I wouldn\u2019t be on this stage without Tina Turner.\u201d She continued to reference Turner during the\u00a0<\/span><em><span>Cowboy Carter World Tour, <\/span><\/em><span>wearing her own versions of Turner\u2019s iconic outfits and even a t-shirt bearing the singer&#8217;s face.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>To dig a little deeper, Tina Turner released her most successful album, <em>Private Dancer, <\/em>on May 29, 1984. She was 44 years old, which is the same age Beyonc\u00e9 is now. Four is famously Beyonc\u00e9\u2019s lucky number \u2013 there\u2019s her album <em>4, <\/em>her birthday September 4, Jay-Z\u2019s birthday December 4, her daughter\u2019s name Blue Ivy (like IV, the roman numeral for four)&#8230; I could go on. The date of May 29 is also significant because the previous two albums in the trilogy both came out on the 29th day of the month \u2013 <em>Renaissance<\/em>\u00a0on July 29 and <em>Cowboy Carter <\/em>on March 29.\u00a0What\u2019s more, it was announced last year that Beyonc\u00e9 is due to co-host this year\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/met-ball\">Met Gala<\/a>, which takes place on May 4 \u2013 timed perfectly for album promo, though I predict it will have already been announced and we\u2019ll already have a single (or two) before then.<\/p>\n<h1><span>SHE SENT GIFTS TO JACK WHITE &amp; TOM MORELLO\u00a0 <\/span><\/h1>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"instagram-container embed-content\" data-embed-type=\"media-instagram\" data-script-depends=\"instagram-embeds\">\n<script async src=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/embed.js\"><\/script><\/div>\n<div class=\"embed-content\" data-embed-type=\"raw-html\">\n<p><span>In 2024, Jack White of rock duo The White Stripes took to Instagram to thank Beyonc\u00e9 for sending him a large bouquet. The accompanying note read: \u201cJack, I just wanted you to know how much you inspired me on this record. Sending you my love, Beyonc\u00e9.\u201d Given the timing, it\u2019s most likely that she was talking about <\/span><em><span>Cowboy Carter, <\/span><\/em><span>but what if she wasn\u2019t? The last time Beyonc\u00e9 and Jack White worked together was on \u201cDon\u2019t Hurt Yourself\u201d, a single from <\/span><em><span>Lemonade, <\/span><\/em><span>which is arguably the most rock-sounding Beyonc\u00e9 track to date. What if she was thanking White for inspiring an album not yet announced\u2026?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Also in 2024, Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tom Morello posted a picture of his mother, activist Mary Morello, holding a signed copy of the <\/span><em><span>Renaissance<\/span><\/em><span> vinyl. Bey had sent the record to Mary to celebrate her 101st birthday, but maybe it\u2019s a hint of a Rage Against The Machine collab to come.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h1><span>SYSTEM OF A DOWN ATTENDED HER TOUR\u00a0<\/span><\/h1>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"embed-content\" data-embed-type=\"media-tiktok\" data-id=\"7531931632308145430\">\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"embed-content\" data-embed-type=\"raw-html\">\n<p><span>In July last year, Serj Tankian, lead vocalist of heavy metal group System of a Down, was photographed attending<\/span><em><span> The Cowboy Carter World Tour. <\/span><\/em><span>Bey even posted the images on her website. Was this simply a random night out for Tankian? Or could Act III go full heavy metal? The likes of Chuck Berry, Little Richard and Fats Domino were among the early pioneers, alongside Sister Rosetta Tharpe, who is dubbed the godmother of rock and roll.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Last weekend, Beyonc\u00e9\u2019s mother, Tina Knowles, shared a video of Sister Rosetta Tharpe performing \u201cDidn\u2019t It Rain\u201d in 1964. To the side of the video, we see an image of Tharpe holding her National Triolian nickel-plated steel guitar, which she played during the late 1930s and early 1940s. It\u2019s been widely speculated that Act III would be called <\/span><em><span>Black Betty<\/span><\/em><span>, a reference that goes deeper than Ram Jam\u2019s 1977 hit of the same name.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cBlack Betty\u201d is thought to have originated as a 1939 work song by blues singer Lead Belly, although some sources believe it dates back even earlier. Not only are motorbikes deeply entwined with rock music (just look at Prince\u2019s <\/span><em><span>Purple Rain <\/span><\/em><span>album cover), but \u201cBlack Betty\u201d is also a popular name for them.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Meanwhile, we have to credit her 2022 <\/span><em><span>British Vogue<\/span><\/em><span> cover shoot. Beyonc\u00e9 has previously said that <\/span><em><span>Cowboy Carter<\/span><\/em><span> was originally meant to come out before <\/span><em><span>Renaissance<\/span><\/em><span>, meaning <\/span><em><span>Cowboy Carter <\/span><\/em><span>would\u2019ve been Act I and <\/span><em><span>Renaissance <\/span><\/em><span>would\u2019ve been Act II. But post-pandemic, she decided the world deserved to dance and swapped the order.
