co-creator Edmund McMillen, who over the weekend responded to a question on social media about when players can expect a console release of the indie hit.<\/p>\n<p>Alas, while McMillen and his fellow co-creator Tyler Glaiel are working on this console version &#8220;now&#8221;, it isn&#8217;t clear when it will be released. &#8220;Not sure when it will be done,&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/edmundmcmillen\/status\/2022933090423968119\">McMillen said<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>On the plus side, though, it sounds like everyone regardless of console preference could get a bite of the Mewgenics pie, as McMillen added &#8220;at this point it might be in Dev for all systems&#8221;. Personally, I can picture losing more than a few hours to Mewgenics while curled up in bed with a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eurogamer.net\/platforms\/switch-2\">Switch 2<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"injection_placeholder\" data-position=\"1\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>In a subsequent post, McMillen again affirmed a console version is on the cards, and that <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/edmundmcmillen\/status\/2023170140435796357?s=20\">there is DLC coming<\/a>. It doesn&#8217;t sound like this DLC will be free, though, with the <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/edmundmcmillen\/status\/2023171863946613160?s=20\">developer stating<\/a> &#8220;it&#8217;s going to take a lot of work\/people&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>As for that DLC, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eurogamer.net\/mewgenics-dlc-is-coming-but-dont-expect-it-any-time-soon\">McMillen has said the Mewgenics team will start work on DLC &#8220;in a few months&#8221;<\/a>, only after seeing exactly what it is fans actually like about the game.<\/p>\n<p>Oh, and also, McMillen was not expecting Mewgenics to become the hit that it has. As a reminder, the game sold 150k copies in six hours, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eurogamer.net\/mewgenics-is-a-breakout-hit-on-steam-it-sold-150000-copies-in-six-hours-and-its-already-made-its-development-costs\">swiftly making back its development costs<\/a>. That figure has since increased, and last week developer Glaiel revealed Mewgenics had sold half a million units in just 36 hours.
