Here we find ourselves among the Canadian miscreants Egregore<\/strong>, returning from whence the wind howls like a damned choir and the Earth knows no master. With their second album, It Echoes In The Wild<\/em>, the band chart a broader sonic wilderness.<\/p>\n Formed from a network of underground lifers \u2014 uniting members of Mitochondrion<\/strong>, Reversed<\/strong>, Ruinous Power<\/strong>, and formerly of Auroch<\/strong> \u2014 Egregore<\/strong>‘s early occult black\/death metal lunacy now mutates into something more expansive, elemental and untamed.<\/p>\n Engineered and recorded by Mariessa McLeod<\/strong>, then mixed and mastered by Arthur Rizk<\/strong> \u2014 whose r\u00e9sum\u00e9 includes Blood Incantation<\/strong>, Dream Unending<\/strong>, and Tomb Mold<\/strong> \u2014 the album carries both clarity and corrosion. The visual realm is equally meticulous: cover art by Luciana Lupe Vasconcelos<\/strong>, illustration and layout by Dipayan Das<\/strong>, and logo work by Karmazid<\/strong> complete the invocation.<\/p>\n Stylistically, the record feels prime for devotees of Nocturnus<\/strong>, Morbid Angel<\/strong>, King Diamond<\/strong>, Samael<\/strong>, Superstition<\/strong>, Angelcorpse<\/strong>, Mortuary Drape<\/strong>, Necrophobic<\/strong>, Absu<\/strong>, and The Chasm<\/strong> \u2014 yet Egregore<\/strong> sound beholden to none.<\/p>\n The band have also unveiled a video for “Stair Into The Vortex,” directed and edited by Christopher Lazar<\/strong>.
