Lip Critic have finished a third album, titled Theft World.<\/em> The hardcore band will release the project via Partisan on May 1. Watch a video for the record\u2019s new song, \u201cLegs in a Snare\u201d below.<\/p>\n

Theft World<\/em> came together when the Lip Critic\u2019s frontman, Bret Kaser, had his identity stolen. The incident led to the band meeting the culprit, a young fan who admitted to the crime. With Kaser\u2019s stolen social security number, he had made hundreds of purchases, including copies of the group\u2019s entire discography, believing that there were secret codes hidden in the songs that comprised a scavenger hunt.<\/p>\n

Instead of taking legal action, the band asked to hear more about his theories, recording him as he elaborated on the intricate world he believed was embedded in Lip Critic\u2019s music. The resulting 12 songs include the fan\u2019s imagined characters and surreal realms. \u201cTheft World is an ode to the power and pervasiveness of stealing,\u201d the band wrote in a press release. \u201cIt\u2019s about taking something ugly and using it to make something cute. It\u2019s about eating an absurd world and falling in love with it as you digest.\u201d<\/p>\n

On February 19, Lip Critic will launch a North American tour in support of the forthcoming album. Check out those dates below.<\/p>\n
