{"id":1760063,"date":"2026-02-11T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2026-02-10T21:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/analyse.optim.biz\/?p=1760063"},"modified":"2026-02-11T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2026-02-10T21:00:00","slug":"melvins-napalm-death-announce-full-collaborative-album-savage-imperial-death-march-for-april","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/analyse.optim.biz\/?p=1760063","title":{"rendered":"MELVINS &amp; NAPALM DEATH Announce Full Collaborative Album Savage Imperial Death March For April"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[analyse_image type=&#8221;featured&#8221; src=&#8221;https:\/\/cdn-p.smehost.net\/sites\/7f9737f2506941499994d771a29ad47a\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/melvins-napalm-death.png&#8221;]<\/p>\n<div class=\"zox-post-body left zoxrel zox100\">\n<div id=\"1485\"><\/div>\n<p><strong>Melvins<\/strong> and <strong>Napalm Death<\/strong> have officially joined forces for a full-length collaborative album titled <em>Savage Imperial Death March<\/em>, set for release on April 10 via Ipecac Recordings.<\/p>\n<p>While the title may be familiar to fans of the bands&#8217; legendary <em>Savage Imperial Death March<\/em> tours in 2016 and 2025, this marks the first-ever proper studio album credited jointly to both groups \u2014 not a split, but a genuine collaboration featuring members of each band writing and recording together.<\/p>\n<p>The first taste of the album arrived yesterday, when the track &#8220;Tossing Coins Into The Fountain Of Fuck&#8221; premiered via <strong>Jose Mangin<\/strong> on <em>SiriusXM&#8217;s Liquid Metal<\/em>, immediately signaling the kind of abrasive, unfiltered chaos fans might expect from such a meeting of minds.<\/p>\n<p>Recorded at the <strong>Melvins<\/strong>&#8216; Los Angeles studio, the sessions brought together <strong>Buzz Osborne<\/strong> (vocals\/guitar) and <strong>Dale Crover<\/strong> (drums) with <strong>Napalm Death<\/strong>&#8216;s <strong>Barney Greenway<\/strong> (vocals), <strong>Shane Embury<\/strong> (bass), and <strong>John Cooke<\/strong> (guitar). According to <strong>Embury<\/strong>, the collaboration was as organic as it was overdue.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I have loved the <strong>Melvins<\/strong> forever and their outlook on music,&#8221; <strong>Embury<\/strong> said. &#8220;A chance to make an album of eclectic musical madness with them was truly an honour and a whole lot of fun, which surely is the whole point! Let&#8217;s do another one soon.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Osborne<\/strong> echoed the sentiment, emphasizing how evenly balanced the creative process was. &#8220;<strong>Napalm Death<\/strong> are one of my favorite bands ever,&#8221; he said. &#8220;It was an absolute pleasure and a dream come true to do this collaboration with them. We wrote songs together\u2026 It was truly a 50\/50 partnership.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>For <strong>Greenway<\/strong>, the album also carried a deeply personal resonance. &#8220;Funny how life turns out sometimes\u2026 collecting hard-to-find <strong>Melvins<\/strong> 7-inches on Bleecker Street in 1989 and then touring twice and doing an album with them within the following 35 years,&#8221; he reflected.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Had a great time with it all, and nice to work with fellow travellers in the <strong>Melvins<\/strong> who also couldn&#8217;t care about pandering to &#8216;demographics.'&#8221; He added that the sessions pushed him creatively: &#8220;I felt myself almost babbling lyrically during the recording, and that alone made for very fun recording times.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><em>Savage Imperial Death March<\/em> features eight tracks and will be released on CD, digital platforms, and four limited-edition vinyl variants.
