After years delving into instrumental music due to a vocal injury, Gia Margaret is singing again. A new album, Singing<\/em>, is due April 24 via Jagjaguwar, and you can listen to \u201cEveryone Around Me Dancing\u201d today. A tour of North America and Europe follows in May; find those dates below. Singing<\/em> was recorded between London, Eau Claire, and Chicago with support players including Kurt Vile, David Bazan, Bon Iver\u2019s Sean Carey, Stars\u2019\u00a0Amy Millan, the Weepies\u2019\u00a0Deb Talan, and Frou Frou\u2019s Guy Sigsworth.<\/p>\n

Margaret says in press materials, \u201cThere was a time when I really didn\u2019t know if I would sing again. So once I healed, there was a lot of internal pressure to come back strong. I didn\u2019t know who I was anymore. So it felt like beginning again, and reconnecting with these very old, old parts of myself.\u201d The single, she adds, \u201cis a reflection on feeling isolated and the comfort found in that isolation. It is for taking a pause, for being in observation of a very scary and loud world and it is for finding stillness in our own inner worlds too.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Chicago-based composer, songwriter, and pianist released two ambient-leaning albums in the convalescent period that followed 2018\u2019s There\u2019s Always Glimmer<\/em>: 2020\u2019s Mia Gargaret<\/em> and 2023\u2019s Romantic Piano<\/em>.<\/p>\n
