href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/tag\/pieter-mulier\"><span>Pieter Mulier<\/span><\/a><span> is the new creative director of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/versace\"><span>Versace<\/span><\/a><span>. The news was announced in a statement this afternoon<\/span> (February 5)<span>, on the Italian label&#8217;s Instagram page. \u201c<\/span><span>Versace and Prada Group announce the appointment of Pieter Mulier as Chief Creative Officer, effective July 1st, 2026. This choice marks the beginning of a new chapter for the brand.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Today\u2019s news comes less than a week after the announcement that Mulier would be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/fashion\/article\/69521\/1\/pieter-mulier-is-leaving-alaia-aw26-creative-director-versace\">leaving his role as creative director of Ala\u00efa<\/a> after five years at the helm.\u00a0<span>The announcement also follows a turbulent year for Italy\u2019s most famous fashion brand. In March last year, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/donatella-versace\"><span>Donatella Versace<\/span><\/a><span> gave up her creative director title after 27 years, transitioning to a \u201cbrand ambassador\u201d role. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Her departure was announced alongside the immediate appointment of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/tag\/dario-vitale\"><span>Dario Vitale<\/span><\/a><span>, a former <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/miu-miu\"><span>Miu Miu<\/span><\/a><span> design director with years of industry pedigree. Less than a month later, Versace announced that the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/prada\"><span>Prada<\/span><\/a><span> Group \u2013 Vitale\u2019s former employers at Miu Miu \u2013 would be purchasing the label for \u00a31.04bn. Vitale presented his new vision for Versace in September, and despite the collection\u2019s apparent success, the designer left the brand on December 4, just one day after the Versace-Prada merger was finalised.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>During his time at Ala\u00efa, Mulier was credited with breathing new life into the Tunisian label, Mulier\u2019s directional designs found fans in <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/rihanna\"><span>Rihanna<\/span><\/a><span>, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/miley-cyrus\"><span>Miley Cyrus<\/span><\/a><span>, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/dua-lipa\"><span>Dua Lipa<\/span><\/a><span> and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/taylor-russell\"><span>Taylor Russell<\/span><\/a><span>. <\/span><span>Before joining the brand, Mulier began his career interning for <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/raf-simons\"><span>Raf Simons<\/span><\/a><span> in 2002. Though he had no formal design experience \u2013 having studied architecture at Institut Saint-Luc in Brussels \u2013 Mulier quickly rose to Simons\u2019 head designer by 2003. He remained as head of menswear collections at Raf Simons until 2010, and simultaneously worked alongside Simons at Jil Sander where he was also creative director until 2012.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Simons\u2019 eternal right-hand-man, Mulier then followed his fellow Belgian to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/dior\"><span>Dior<\/span><\/a><span> in April 2012, and later to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/calvin-klein\"><span>Calvin Klein<\/span><\/a><span> in August 2016. In 2021, Mulier became the first creative director to take the reins at Ala\u00efa since Azzedine Ala\u00efa\u2019s death in 2017. The news was announced in a statement this afternoon<\/span> (February 5)<span>, on the Italian label&#8217;s Instagram page. \u201c<\/span><span>Versace and Prada Group announce the appointment of Pieter Mulier as Chief Creative Officer, effective July 1st, 2026. This choice marks the beginning of a new chapter for the brand.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Today\u2019s news comes less than a week after the announcement that Mulier would be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/fashion\/article\/69521\/1\/pieter-mulier-is-leaving-alaia-aw26-creative-director-versace\">leaving his role as creative director of Ala\u00efa<\/a> after five years at the helm.\u00a0<span>The announcement also follows a turbulent year for Italy\u2019s most famous fashion brand. In March last year, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/donatella-versace\"><span>Donatella Versace<\/span><\/a><span> gave up her creative director title after 27 years, transitioning to a \u201cbrand ambassador\u201d role. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Her departure was announced alongside the immediate appointment of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/tag\/dario-vitale\"><span>Dario Vitale<\/span><\/a><span>, a former <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/miu-miu\"><span>Miu Miu<\/span><\/a><span> design director with years of industry pedigree. Less than a month later, Versace announced that the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/prada\"><span>Prada<\/span><\/a><span> Group \u2013 Vitale\u2019s former employers at Miu Miu \u2013 would be purchasing the label for \u00a31.04bn. Vitale presented his new vision for Versace in September, and despite the collection\u2019s apparent success, the designer left the brand on December 4, just one day after the Versace-Prada merger was finalised.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>During his time at Ala\u00efa, Mulier was credited with breathing new life into the Tunisian label, Mulier\u2019s directional designs found fans in <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/rihanna\"><span>Rihanna<\/span><\/a><span>, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/miley-cyrus\"><span>Miley Cyrus<\/span><\/a><span>, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/dua-lipa\"><span>Dua Lipa<\/span><\/a><span> and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/taylor-russell\"><span>Taylor Russell<\/span><\/a><span>. <\/span><span>Before joining the brand, Mulier began his career interning for <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/raf-simons\"><span>Raf Simons<\/span><\/a><span> in 2002. Though he had no formal design experience \u2013 having studied architecture at Institut Saint-Luc in Brussels \u2013 Mulier quickly rose to Simons\u2019 head designer by 2003. He remained as head of menswear collections at Raf Simons until 2010, and simultaneously worked alongside Simons at Jil Sander where he was also creative director until 2012.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Simons\u2019 eternal right-hand-man, Mulier then followed his fellow Belgian to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/dior\"><span>Dior<\/span><\/a><span> in April 2012, and later to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/calvin-klein\"><span>Calvin Klein<\/span><\/a><span> in August 2016. In 2021, Mulier became the first creative director to take the reins at Ala\u00efa since Azzedine Ala\u00efa\u2019s death in 2017.
