Ludwig G\u00f6ransson has won Best Original Score at the 2026 Golden Globe Awards for Sinners<\/em>. He beat out Alexandre Desplat (Frankenstein<\/em>), Jonny Greenwood (One Battle After Another<\/em>), Kangding Ray (Sir\u0101t<\/em>), Max Richter (Hamnet<\/em>), and Hans Zimmer (F1<\/em>) for the trophy. This is the sixth Golden Globes nomination and second win of his career.<\/p>\n

If you don\u2019t remember seeing G\u00f6ransson\u2019s acceptance speech on TV, don\u2019t worry; your memory is still intact. Mere days before this year\u2019s Golden Globes Awards, CBS and Paramount+ opted to cut the Best Original Score category from their broadcast for time, despite the previously announced addition of new categories like Best Podcast Award and Cinematic and Box Office Achievement.<\/p>\n

When asked on the red carpet for his thoughts about the category being removed from the televised, Hans Zimmer told Deadline<\/em> that it \u201cfeels a little bit ignorant.\u201d He continued, \u201cThe composer has such an important role in making films; by the time we come to the music, the director has been through war. Our first job is to remind him why he did this film in the first place.\u201d<\/p>\n

Earlier in the evening, the Golden Globe award for Best Original Song went to the songwriters and lyricists behind Kpop Demon Hunters<\/em>\u2019 global hit \u201cGolden\u201d: Ejae, Joong Gyu Kwak, Yu Han Lee, Hee Dong Nam, Jeong Hoon Seo, Park Hong Jun, and Mark Sonnenblick. Their fellow nominees in that category were Miley Cyrus, Mark Ronson, Andrew Wyatt, and Simon Franglen (Avatar: Fire and Ash<\/em>\u2019s \u201cDream as One\u201d); Raphael Saadiq and Ludwig G\u00f6ransson (Sinners<\/em>\u2019 \u201cI Lied to You\u201d); Stephen Schwartz (Wicked: For Good<\/em>\u2019s \u201cNo Place Like Home\u201d and \u201cThe Girl in the Bubble\u201d); and Nick Cave and Bryce Dessner (Train Dreams<\/em>\u2019 \u201cTrain Dreams\u201d). Several other musicians appeared onstage throughout the Golden Globes tonight as official awards presenters, too, including Charli XCX, Miley Cyrus, Blackpink\u2019s Lisa, and Snoop Dogg.<\/p>\n

The 2025 Golden Globe Award for Best Original Score went to Nine Inch Nails musicians Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross for their work on Challengers<\/em>. That same year, Camille and Cl\u00e9ment Ducol won Best Original Song for \u201cEl Mal\u201d in Emilia P\u00e9rez<\/em>.<\/p>\n
