The Cure have won Best Alternative Music Performance for \u201cAlone\u201d\u00a0at the 2026 Grammys. The Songs of a Lost World<\/em> single edged out Bon Iver (\u201cEverything Is Peaceful Love\u201d), Hayley Williams (\u201cParachute\u201d), Turnstile (\u201cSeein\u2019 Stars\u201d), and Wet Leg (\u201cMangetout\u201d). This is the Cure\u2019s first ever Grammy (they won Best Alternative Music Album later in the evening).<\/p>\n

\u201cSimon, Jason, Roger, Reeves, and I would like to thank the Grammys for this wonderful award,\u201d singer Robert Smith wrote in a statement that was read on stage. \u201cWe are very honored to receive it. We would also like to thank everyone who helped in the creation of our Songs of a Lost World<\/em> single.\u201d<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s category pitched three Grammy darlings against two hopeful first-timers: Turnstile and, er, the Cure. While Williams, Bon Iver, and Wet Leg all have multiple statuettes in the trophy cabinet, Robert Smith and the band only picked up one nomination in their acknowledged immortal era\u2014and even then at its tail-end, for 1992\u2019s Wish<\/em>\u2014before another fruitless nod, for Bloodflowers<\/em>, at the 2001 awards.<\/p>\n

Of the other artists, Williams is the most-decorated in the category, having won three prior Grammys with Paramore. Before tonight, Bon Iver had not won any awards since the two he snagged in 2012, for Best New Artist and Best Alternative Music Album. Wet Leg picked up two awards in 2023 for their self-titled debut.<\/p>\n
