href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/tag\/charlie-le-mindu\"><span>Charlie Le Mindu<\/span><\/a><span>\u2019s first fashion show in a decade, in the edgy, far-flung <\/span><span>Oberkampf neighbourhood<\/span><span>. The backstage is buzzing, and there is hair on every surface. It hangs from clothing racks, it\u2019s on the bodies of the models, it sits on tables and it\u2019s pinned to the walls. It\u2019s being clipped, snipped, ironed and tweaked for Le Mindu\u2019s first-ever haute couture show.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>A decade ago, Le Mindu was a fixture at London Fashion Week for his hair-raising fashion shows. He then changed his career course to focus on costumes for opera and ballet, creating work for a few select clients like Doja Cat\u2019s <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/beauty\/article\/62425\/1\/coachella-doja-cat-hairstylist-charlie-le-mindu-23-hair-monsters\"><span>Coachella hair monsters<\/span><\/a><span> or Chappell Roan in her <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=woLfAvD5iXI\"><span>\u201cSubway\u201d music video<\/span><\/a><span>. His return collection to fashion week, dubbed <em>Skins<\/em>, is inspired by the couture techniques he has picked up over the past years. \u201cWe are very meticulous in what we do in terms of techniques in the fabrications,\u201d he says. \u201cI\u2019ve been doing this for maybe 25 years now. So I\u2019ve learned from mistakes&#8230; I also have a bit more budget than I used to. So everything seems much better.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The show itself is an extravaganza where hair meets fashion, blurring the line between the two and challenging viewers to question where hair begins and fabric ends \u2013 or whether that boundary exists at all. There\u2019s plenty of nudity (\u201cI love it, we\u2019re all born naked,\u201d Le Mindu laughs), alongside sponsorship from Byredo and Pornhub, and a live performance choreographed by <span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/gracelyell\/?hl=en\">Grace Lyell<\/a><\/span>, featuring nude dancers coated in clay, staged at the centre of the runway. \u201cFor me, it\u2019s not about body positivity, because I don\u2019t believe in body positivity,\u201d he says. \u201cI believe in body visibility. We need to be visible. There were chaps-style trousers, boots that came up to the top of the thighs and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/tag\/pubic-hair\"><span>merkin-esque furry underwear<\/span><\/a><span>. \u201cI think hair is such a personal material because it\u2019s our fur,\u201d says Le Mindu. \u201cWe are hiding behind it, and we are covering ourselves; it makes us feel better&#8230; That\u2019s why we have such a strong reaction when we go to the hair stylist, and we don\u2019t like what they do.\u201d <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/karinwesterlundd\/?hl=en\">Karin Westerlund<\/a> was on make-up for the show, while <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/melissa_rouille\/?hl=en\">Melissa Rouille<\/a> did hair and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/beauty\/article\/57897\/1\/lora-de-sousa-distorted-nail-art-is-beauitful-lethal\">Lora de Sousa<\/a> was on nails.<\/p>\n<p><span>Le Mindu sourced all the hair for the collection ethically, which was a unique process. \u201cI have a dealer who gets people who are selling their hair because they want to,\u201d he says. \u201cThey make sure that the people who are selling the ponytail make a good chunk of money to be able to live.\u201d For this collection, he used Peruvian, North African, Eastern European and Asian hair.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<figure class=\"inline-img expandable dev-view-hide\" data-img=\"dae8ca74-5e1c-45d2-bbcb-b3e200b5fef4\" data-src=\"https:\/\/images-prod.dazeddigital.com\/2000\/azure\/dazed-prod\/1430\/5\/1435903.jpg\" data-img-aspect-ratio-type=\"portrait\" data-img-aspect-ratio=\"0.8\"><span class=\"has-css-custom-props image-container\" data-aspect-ratio-type=\"portrait\"><span class=\"preserve-aspect-ratio\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Charlie Le Mindu, SS26 Couture\" class=\"img\" height=\"2750\" src=\"https:\/\/analyse.optim.biz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/1435903.jpg\" width=\"2200\" title=\"1435903\"><\/span><\/span><figcaption class=\"img-caption\"><span class=\"credit\">Photography Csaba V\u00e1g\u00f3. Courtesy of Charlie <span class=\"nowrap\">Le Mindu<\/span><\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<div class=\"embed-content\" data-embed-type=\"raw-html\">\n<p><span>Le Mindu and his team spattered Pravana dye with a toothbrush onto the hair and used a special implanting technique to secure all the hair to the fabrics. \u201cI just feel like it\u2019s more luxurious and it\u2019s also the kind of work that we don\u2019t see anymore, because machines are taking [over this work],\u201d he says. The team he selected for the show are all classically trained in entirely handmaid, haute couture techniques \u2013 the highest standard of fashion.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cI don\u2019t claim to be a fashion designer,\u201d says Le Mindu. \u201cIt is just a craft that I love. I\u2019m just doing an event, and people [can] take it as they want. But also, one reason I really like doing this is that I have lots of kids who will text me on Instagram and be like, \u2018Oh, I\u2019m so inspired.\u2019 And it just makes them happy. The backstage is buzzing, and there is hair on every surface. It hangs from clothing racks, it\u2019s on the bodies of the models, it sits on tables and it\u2019s pinned to the walls. It\u2019s being clipped, snipped, ironed and tweaked for Le Mindu\u2019s first-ever haute couture show.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>A decade ago, Le Mindu was a fixture at London Fashion Week for his hair-raising fashion shows. He then changed his career course to focus on costumes for opera and ballet, creating work for a few select clients like Doja Cat\u2019s <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/beauty\/article\/62425\/1\/coachella-doja-cat-hairstylist-charlie-le-mindu-23-hair-monsters\"><span>Coachella hair monsters<\/span><\/a><span> or Chappell Roan in her <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=woLfAvD5iXI\"><span>\u201cSubway\u201d music video<\/span><\/a><span>. His return collection to fashion week, dubbed <em>Skins<\/em>, is inspired by the couture techniques he has picked up over the past years. \u201cWe are very meticulous in what we do in terms of techniques in the fabrications,\u201d he says. \u201cI\u2019ve been doing this for maybe 25 years now. So I\u2019ve learned from mistakes&#8230; I also have a bit more budget than I used to. So everything seems much better.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The show itself is an extravaganza where hair meets fashion, blurring the line between the two and challenging viewers to question where hair begins and fabric ends \u2013 or whether that boundary exists at all. There\u2019s plenty of nudity (\u201cI love it, we\u2019re all born naked,\u201d Le Mindu laughs), alongside sponsorship from Byredo and Pornhub, and a live performance choreographed by <span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/gracelyell\/?hl=en\">Grace Lyell<\/a><\/span>, featuring nude dancers coated in clay, staged at the centre of the runway. \u201cFor me, it\u2019s not about body positivity, because I don\u2019t believe in body positivity,\u201d he says. \u201cI believe in body visibility. We need to be visible. There were chaps-style trousers, boots that came up to the top of the thighs and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/tag\/pubic-hair\"><span>merkin-esque furry underwear<\/span><\/a><span>. \u201cI think hair is such a personal material because it\u2019s our fur,\u201d says Le Mindu. \u201cWe are hiding behind it, and we are covering ourselves; it makes us feel better&#8230; That\u2019s why we have such a strong reaction when we go to the hair stylist, and we don\u2019t like what they do.\u201d <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/karinwesterlundd\/?hl=en\">Karin Westerlund<\/a> was on make-up for the show, while <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/melissa_rouille\/?hl=en\">Melissa Rouille<\/a> did hair and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/beauty\/article\/57897\/1\/lora-de-sousa-distorted-nail-art-is-beauitful-lethal\">Lora de Sousa<\/a> was on nails.<\/p>\n<p><span>Le Mindu sourced all the hair for the collection ethically, which was a unique process. \u201cI have a dealer who gets people who are selling their hair because they want to,\u201d he says. \u201cThey make sure that the people who are selling the ponytail make a good chunk of money to be able to live.\u201d For this collection, he used Peruvian, North African, Eastern European and Asian hair.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<figure class=\"inline-img expandable dev-view-hide\" data-img=\"dae8ca74-5e1c-45d2-bbcb-b3e200b5fef4\" data-src=\"https:\/\/images-prod.dazeddigital.com\/2000\/azure\/dazed-prod\/1430\/5\/1435903.jpg\" data-img-aspect-ratio-type=\"portrait\" data-img-aspect-ratio=\"0.8\"><span class=\"has-css-custom-props image-container\" data-aspect-ratio-type=\"portrait\"><span class=\"preserve-aspect-ratio\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Charlie Le Mindu, SS26 Couture\" class=\"img\" height=\"2750\" src=\"https:\/\/analyse.optim.biz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/1435903.jpg\" width=\"2200\" title=\"1435903\"><\/span><\/span><figcaption class=\"img-caption\"><span class=\"credit\">Photography Csaba V\u00e1g\u00f3. The team he selected for the show are all classically trained in entirely handmaid, haute couture techniques \u2013 the highest standard of fashion.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cI don\u2019t claim to be a fashion designer,\u201d says Le Mindu. \u201cIt is just a craft that I love. I\u2019m just doing an event, and people [can] take it as they want. But also, one reason I really like doing this is that I have lots of kids who will text me on Instagram and be like, \u2018Oh, I\u2019m so inspired.\u2019 And it just makes them happy.
