The 2026 Academy Award nominations were announced today, and with them, the contenders for Best Original Song. This year\u2019s nominees are Nick Cave and Bryce Dessner\u2019s \u201cTrain Dreams\u201d (from the film of the same name), Huntr\/x\u2019s \u201cGolden\u201d (KPop Demon Hunters<\/em>), Raphael Saadiq and Ludwig G\u00f6ransson\u2019s \u201cI Lied to You\u201d (Sinners<\/em>), Dianne Warren\u2019s \u201cDear Me\u201d (Dianne Warren: Relentless<\/em>), and Nicholas Pike\u2019s \u201cSweet Dreams of Joy\u201d (Viva Verdi!<\/em>). A winner will be named at the awards ceremony on Sunday, March 15, hosted by Conan O\u2019Brien at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n

G\u00f6ransson was the only artist to be nominated for both Best Original Song and Best Original Score this year. Back in December, the Academy shared a shortlist of songs in the running for a nomination. Among those that didn\u2019t make the final cut were Nine Inch Nails\u2019\u00a0\u201cAs Alive as You Need Me to Be\u201d (Tron: Ares<\/em>), Aiyana-Lee\u2019s \u201cHighest 2 Lowest,\u201d Miley Cyrus\u2019 \u201cDream as One\u201d (Avatar: Fire and Ash<\/em>), John Mayer, Ed Sheeran, and Blake Slatkin\u2019s \u201cDrive\u201d (F1<\/em>), and two songs from Wicked: For Good<\/em>. In 2025, the award went to Cl\u00e9ment Ducol, Camille, and Jacques Audiard for \u201cEl Mal,\u201d from Audiard\u2019s musical drama Emilia Perez<\/em>.<\/p>\n
