The year 2025 is drawing to a close, and with it, an era comes to an end. But this isn\u2019t just the end of the calendar year\u2014according to numerology, it\u2019s actually the end of an entire nine-year cycle that began in 2016.<\/p>\n

In other words, the end of 2025 is the end of a much more substantial chapter. If you\u2019re experiencing endings on a major level\u2014perhaps with a breakup or the end of a job\u2014this could be part of the reason.<\/p>\n

In numerology, 2025 was a Universal Year 9, a year of reckoning. \u201cIt closes a nine-year cycle, bringing to a close a chapter that opened in 2016, explains Morgane Jorge, personal development coach and founder of Stones Club. \u201cIt acts as an end point, a period of integration where we observe what this cycle has taught us, what has worked, what has been exhausted, and what now needs to be released. In Year 9, something comes to an end. One cycle ending to make way for a new beginning\u2014in this case, 2026, a Universal Year 1. This is the year of understanding, of closure, and of releasing what can no longer keep up.\u201d<\/p>\n

What happened in 2025?<\/h2>\n

2025 highlighted everything that was reaching its limit: stagnant situations, exhausted relationships, rigid beliefs, burdensome commitments, and anything else that no longer resonated was put into question.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis year has brought a new level of awareness, sometimes gently, sometimes with a vengeance,\u201d says Jorge. \u201cMany felt an instinctive need to sort things out: their projects, their habits, their surroundings. It\u2019s as if removing the unnecessary layers of life finally allowed us to rediscover our essence.\u201d<\/p>\n

Some chapters ended naturally: Perhaps a contract was not renewed, a lease was not resigned, or a relationship came to its inevitable demise. Other things ended in tension, as if the universe was insisting that we finally let go of what we were holding on to out of fear.<\/p>\n

\u201cTiredness\u2014sometimes physical, sometimes emotional\u2014was often a clear signal that we couldn\u2019t go on in the same way,\u201d Jorge notes. \u201c2025 was a year of searching for truth, simplicity, and authenticity. It was a year to understand that anything that no longer vibes must be released. The past has come back to us to be definitively integrated and left behind.\u201d<\/p>\n

A 7-step ritual for ending 2025 right<\/h2>\n

Below, Jorge shares some tips for how to make the most of the changeover to 2026\u2019s fresh Year 1 energy.<\/p>\n

Take stock<\/div>\n

Before entering the new, you need to understand what\u2019s coming to an end. Take a moment to write down, unfiltered, what nourished you this year, what weighed you down, what you want to take with you, and what you want to leave in 2025.<\/p>\n

Clear space for something new<\/div>\n

A cycle starts best in a place that feels fresh. Tidy up, air out your space, and sort through your clutter. Creating physical space welcomes inner space. Universal Year 1 deserves an expansive environment.<\/p>\n

Clarify your intentions<\/div>\n

Who do you want to be in 2026? Set a simple intention: a word, a phrase, or a quality you want to amplify. In Year 1, everything starts with a direction.<\/p>\n

Make a first gesture<\/div>\n

A year 1 calls for initiative. Take a first step, even if it\u2019s a tiny one: send that e-mail, make that phone call, book that airplane ticket. What matters is not the size of the gesture, but the decision it symbolizes.<\/p>\n

Be grateful<\/div>\n

Closing a Year 9 means recognizing what it has brought you. Give thanks for the lessons, the people, and the transformations. Gratitude opens the door to the next cycle.<\/p>\n
