      In mid-May, I jetted off to picturesque Wymara Resort + Villas in Turks and Caicos for a very<\/em> special reason. Last December, the luxurious property inked a partnership with 111 Skin, bringing the sophisticated skincare products into its dreamy spa. “We’re thrilled to partner with 111SKIN and bring their exceptional skincare products and treatments to our guests,” Wymara Resort + Villas CEO Shelley Rincon says. “At Wymara, we’re always striving to elevate our guest experience, and this collaboration aligns perfectly with our vision of offering world-class luxury and wellness services.       To celebrate, Wymara Resort + Villas and 111 Skin hosted a small group of editors, allowing us to experience the spa’s treatments and get an exclusive look at the brand’s latest U.S. launch: the Sunscreen SPF 50. During my time on the island, I got to meet with the 111 Skin co-founders, world-renowned plastic and reconstructive surgeon Dr. Yannis Alexandrides and Eva Alexandridis, who taught me everything I need to know about their cutting-edge sunscreen. Ahead, find my review of the formula after a month of testing.<\/strong><\/p>\n

      What Is the Sunscreen SPF50+? <\/span><\/h2>\n

      With a price tag of $135, I was immediately curious to learn the backstory behind the Sunscreen SPF 50. Dr. Alexandrides and his team describe it as a pioneering formula that combines sun protection with anti-inflammatory benefits (more on that ahead)\u2014offering broad-spectrum protection against UVA, UVB, and HEV light.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n

      It took the brand years to develop the U.S. formula (the UK version debuted in 2024), with Dr. Alexandrides drawing upon his medical expertise to refine the sunscreen. Specifically, he aimed to develop an effective yet gentle sunscreen that would benefit his patients after treatment and address the common skin conditions he sees at his practice, such as hyperpigmentation and oxidative stress. The final formula promises to deliver a lightweight, non-greasy finish and no white cast\u2014plus, it doesn’t contain oxybenzone and octinoxate, two UV filters thought to harm coral reefs and marine ecosystems.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n

      The Ingredients\u00a0 <\/span><\/h2>\n

      • NAC Y2:<\/strong> In true 111 Skin fashion, this sunscreen contains the brand’s proprietary complex, NAC Y2. The signature blend contains vitamin C, escin, and NAC (N-acetylcysteine), which help repair, soothe, and restore the skin.<\/li>\n
      • Hyaluronic Acid:<\/strong> This ingredient is everywhere<\/em> for a reason, appearing in countless skincare, makeup, and hair care formulas. The multi-molecular hyaluronic complex present in this sunscreen retains moisture, helping to boost hydration and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.<\/li>\n
      • Niacinamide:<\/strong> This formula contains 3% niacinamide, offering a range of benefits. It balances skin tone by lessening dark spots, reduces redness, regulates sebum, and decreases water loss.<\/li>\n
      • Arabian Cotton Stem Cell Extract:<\/strong> Another hero ingredient in the Sunscreen SPF50 is 1% Arabian cotton stem cell extract. Its benefit is that it offers broad-spectrum photoprotection: UV, IR, Blue Light, and visible light. Dr. Alexandrides also appreciates that it accelerates the repair of photodamaged skin and calms redness.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        The Feel + Texture\u00a0 <\/span><\/h2>\n

        When I arrived at my suite, I found an assortment of 111 Skin products on my counter, including one of the first available samples of the sunscreen. When I dispensed it, I was surprised at the texture. I typically use thicker, creamier sunscreen lotions, but this 111 Skin launch is milky and a bit runny. It falls somewhere between a toner and a cream in terms of its consistency. While it’s a departure from what I’m used to, I have no complaints after slathering it on time after time. The thinner, fluid texture makes it easier to blend into my skin\u2014it absorbs without leaving behind a sticky or chalky residue.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n

        The Results <\/span><\/h2>\n

        Fifteen to 20 minutes before stepping into the sun, the brand recommends applying one to two pumps of the product as the final step in your skincare routine. Before I stepped out of my room for excursions on the property or to lie out on the beach, I made sure to apply a generous amount of sunscreen to my face and neck (and reapplied throughout the day, of course).\n<\/p>\n

        I have really dry skin year-round, so I like to incorporate hydrating formulas into my routine, including my sunscreen. The Repair Sunscreen is perfect for my skin type, as it imparts tons of hydration without feeling greasy or heavy. Once it’s all rubbed in, my skin always has a noticeable healthy glow, and most importantly, it doesn’t leave behind a white cast (the brand claims an ultra-sheer, invisible finish on all skin types).\u00a0\n<\/p>\n

        With it being SPF 50, the brand explains that this theoretically allows you to stay in the sun 50 times longer (500 minutes) without getting a sunburn (Although this depends on factors like correct application, sweating, and swimming). The Turks and Caicos sun is certainly scorching, but I walked away from the four-day trip with no sunburns, so I can confidently say I trust the Repair Sunscreen’s protection factor.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n

        Since returning home, I’ve continued to use the product daily, and I’ve remained impressed with its performance and texture. It works well under makeup\u2014no piling or patchiness to report\u2014and on bare skin days, my skin looks so healthy and smooth. While this is a high-end sunscreen, it’s worth adding to your list if you want to treat yourself.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
