Future\u2019s \u201cHallucinating\u201d and Max B\u2019s \u201cWhy You Do That\u201d are two songs that are perfect as is. A couple days ago, I would not have been willing to give any reimaginings a fair shot; in fact I couldn\u2019t get through a Robb Bank$ and Tony Shhnow \u201cHallucinating\u201d sample-drill remix from last month because it felt like a sin. Tallahassee rapper Real Boston Richey and Atlanta singer Kyeoshin have me eating my words, though.<\/p>\n

On Boston Richey\u2019s version of \u201cHallucinating,\u201d the beat is slightly touched up, the rhythm faster and the drums boosted. His take is a lot less tortured than Future\u2019s, as the original meditations on addiction (\u201cOh you did more Percs than me?\u201d) turn to fast money boasts (\u201cOh you trap more bud than me?\u201d). Meanwhile, on Kyeoshin\u2019s \u201cWhy You Do That?,\u201d the singer stretches Max B\u2019s hook, adding in all types of vocal riffs and drawn-out notes that give the song a fresh twist. Similar to her EP from earlier this year, Aquatic Drill: Vol. 1<\/em>, she doesn\u2019t have to say a whole lot of words to get a feeling across. And here, that feeling is longing. Together, these two tracks are proof that any and everything is up for reinterpretation in the right hands.<\/p>\n
