    To tell you the truth, my relationship with Drunk Elephant is in longer and better standing than my relationship with the concept of a lip mask. I was in early college when I first became obsessed with the pink-capped T.L.C. Sukari Babyfacial\u2014around the same time I couldn’t go anywhere without my matte liquid lipstick. Obviously, skin softening was much higher on my beauty to-do list than taking care of that impossibly dry pout.\n<\/p>\n

    But you live and learn! Now, I know that my lips also deserve to be slathered in skin-loving ingredients and that their natural color is just fine for a trip to the coffee shop. With a little extra sheen, of course.\n<\/p>\n

    On June 10, the effective active ingredient-focused brand is releasing the Plump-C Tripeptide Lippe Mask, a restorative treatment that you can use anytime to love up your lips. Ahead, everything there is to know about the latest Drunk Elephant launch\u2014including my honest review.<\/p>\n

    The Inspiration <\/span><\/h2>\n

    While the brand’s longstanding fave Lippe Balm is meant to be the on-the-go balm of your dreams, this is the product you’ll turn to when your pout needs a little more nourishment. You might notice that the duo have the same color cap\u2014they’re sisters with shared sensibilities but varying hefts.\n<\/p>\n

    “Plump-C Tripeptide Lippe Mask is a richer version of Lippe Balm that plumps and restores,” explains the brand. While Lippe Balm should be used for daily lip care, Plump-C is more of a restorative treatment <\/em>(though it can still be used anytime!) that firms, moisturizes, softens, smooths, and visibly plumps. At the same time, it has a pretty glossy finish that makes your regular applications all the better.\n<\/p>\n

    The Formula <\/span><\/h2>\n

    Like its little Lippe sister, Plump-C doesn’t contain essential oils, silicones, fragrances, or dyes. Instead, it’s full of nourishing plant oils and butters\u2014you’ll find marula oil, green tea oil, and shea butter in its ingredient list\u2014to offer up all kinds of comfy moisture and softness.\n<\/p>\n

    Its namesakes, vitamin C and tripeptides, come in the form of the healthy collagen-supporting magnesium ascorbyl phosphate and palmitoyl tripeptide-1. Magnesium ascorbyl phosphate is an antioxidant that improves the look of hyperpigmentation, while the synthetic tripeptide (it’s also known by the trade name Maxi-Lip) hydrates and makes your lips look fuller. The vision here is that you’ll see more volume and better definition of your lip line with continued use.\n<\/p>\n

    My Review <\/span><\/h2>\n

    Drunk Elephant recommends applying Plump-C to your lips both morning and night. There’s no need to wipe the mask off\u2014not that you’d want to, anyway.\n<\/p>\n

    It might be boring to cite a consumer-perception study in a first-person review, but I do think this one\u2014which took place over two weeks with 32 testers\u2014is telling. Results showed that 100% of testers’ lips felt moisturized and soft, 96% agreed their lips felt firmer, and 93% agreed the product helped lock-in moisture. I agree! With everyone except that 4% percent, though I have to trust their reasoning.\n<\/p>\n

    After two weeks of masking before bed (I’m not amazing at remembering it in the morning, and the fact that it doesn’t feel even a little bit sticky when I wake up, while ultimately a positive, doesn’t help me on that front), my lips felt and looked mighty plush. I liked the slightly sweet and not at all overpowering flavor it gave off and the sheen was pretty, but my biggest tell was how well my other <\/em>favorite lip products seemed to swipe on after I’d used Plump-C the night before.\n<\/p>\n

    Can you imagine how unstoppable I would’ve been if I had this during my Lip Kit phase? Too unstoppable! I guess that’s why now is the exact right time.\n<\/p>\n
