I struggle to find a tire with enough size and knob for my 500. Mostly intermediate to soft here in New England. Even a new 3S was spinning a lot. It seems like most tires are designed to spin some and not bog down the new bikes. If my 500 can’t hook up the extra motor is not an advantage where it could be and ends up a disadvantage.

On sand you do not want a narrow rear tire, it will dig to deep and not stay on top. It will also be extremely unstable since you move weight to the rear a lot. Try to use a mountain bike with normal tires vs wide ones on a beach and you get the point. A bit more sensitive for tall MX riders that move a lot of weight over the back.

You don’t want it too skinny but not too fat either so the engine isn’t pulled down too far.

When would you choose a 120/90/19 over a 120/80/19?

More of a feel thing. I’ve been running a 120/80-19 lately and while I feel it absorbs square edges better, especially under acceleration…it also makes the bike feel taller and in some situations it feels a bit “springy” to the way it reacts to some deceleration chop.

when you say the “110” for 250f, is that still running standard 250f rim size still? as the ktm/husky have larger rim size to acomodate 110 stock? have read online before 110 on 250f rim becomes tall and makes for power loss.
